I have noticed that a sharpie tends to fade with time/sun beneath fiberglass… What pens do you all use? Or what pens were used on the boards from the 60s where you can still clearly read the signatures and such?
Thanks!

A Pencil always works with a softer lead really well but the good ole’ #2 and a dull point will suffice. You can tell how out of control someones ego is by the size of their signature.
As all your questions have revolved around wood surfboards, I’m guessing you are working on a wood board. Why not burn the info on? Quick, easy, and definitely won’t fade with time! A $5 simple soldering iron from wally world will do the trick. I tend to write it out in pencil first, then burn over it. Logos the same way…don’t have to worry about rice paper showing in the lam.
I like Eric Arakawa’s signed lams.
Yes sir, you hit the nail on the head! I actually have a wood burning pen (2 actually) a wally world and a versa tool. The latter being adjustable is the one i use more but i just find it hard to make the signature look natural. Maybe i just need to work on my actual signature on paper as… Being a medical professional… It most definitely reflects that lol i doubt anyone could read it. Looks more like an infinity sign than anything else.
That’s why i used a sharpie but maybe will just have to redouble my efforts!
Thanks for the tip!
Never heard of him before… Over the dunes and though the breakers and off to Google I goooooo
