Maybe a Spitzer 8’6"
I’ve gotta say- that was pretty well-done.
(how’d they ever get copyright clearance$ for that, though?)
When you figure it out make me one too.
6’2" 275 lbs!
Still like to catch waves do cutbacks and throw an off the lip as well.
Currently riding a monster fish from Tony Staples 8’0" 23" Not sure of the measurements on nose and tail but its 3 inches thick with pinched rails and a wide swallow tail.
Fun board paddles nice likes S. Mission on good clean bowly days.

All I have to do know is find a blank that “fits”.
If anyone has more to add “speak now or…”
Maybe throw in a short center box in case you want to experiment with something other than a quad?
By the way… I can see why you like your old one!
By the way.... I can see why you like your old one!
+1 from me
I like the look of the old board seems like it’s what I need after my recent round of back surgery and weight gain.
But…
Make that new board I like the numbers then bring it on down to S. Mission Jetty and lemme see it go!
As far as poly or epoxy the foam dictates that.
As far as blanks go you work with EPS are damn fine shaper and craftsman.
By a block of 2 or 3 # eps and hot wire it.
I would love to see the finished product either way
Ace,
This has been a great thread. Got me thinking I wanted a board with the same qualities you mentioned in the begining. Your final numbers brought a smile. Yesterday, before the Superbowl, I finished something real close. 8’-7" x 16 1/4N x 22 3/4 x 16T x 3 1/8TH. Difference with my interpretation will probably be the bottom. I put in single to double concaves - based on Skip’s Fish-Simmons. We surf the same stretch of water. Looking forward to seeing yours when you wrap it up.

Thats nice!
Love to see that thing go as well.
After riding your boards for the last 20 years, you should ride whatever you want to, then just scale it down for my 155 lbs and make me one, then my wife will ride it and she will like it, then scale mine down for her, then we go from 8 boards to 10 boards in the quiver,It really makes my life quite simple
Aloha from the Big Island
Hey I thought it up first stop stealing my thunder!
Hi Gillie. What wife?
I am just waiting on a blank. Had to special order custom rocker, Green Valley mill closed. Waiting. I kinda got some ideas based around all the info.
the same wife, you know, the videographer that doesnt put me in her movies
I just went through all the posts and just to add to the prototype (?) I’ve always liked the swallow, it makes the board really loose, especially as a 4 fin and is aesthetically appealing
Great thread - always learn something from Benny’s posts (among others as well)…
Nice…
I’m having something like this glassed right now actually.
8’0"
15" pumpkinseed type of nose
23"
15.25" (yet tapered) Diamond tail 2+1
Lower but natural rocker done with Resin X (lighter glass job to see if the flex and strength are there).
I’ve been riding this board all winter. From 2’ to overhead. Josh Hall skosh model, 8’ 6" trifin. I think it’s a shape worth considering.
Finally got my blank. I am using a 9-3cb King Mac blank with custom rocker to “hit the numbers”. It is the thickest poly blank in the 9’ range that is out there, that I am aware of. Finish shaping it tomorrow. Than just got to get it painted yellow and glassed.
