Mine today was a mixed bag of BB King, Leonard Cohen, Chemical Brothers and System of a down.
The system is a bit manic for shaping though.

Classic Little Feat - with Lowell George - Live…got the deal done. Just cut the laps and it is Fine…

My best glass jobs come out of Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, and really super cheesy lounge music. Second to that, I glass often to Mark Knopfler' "All the Roadrunning" albumn. Depending on how dark my mood is that day (My mood is always varying degrees of dark) I listen to OLD George Jones.
Just got the Dvd Hotbuttered Soul, comes with a sound track by white horse. They played them the film then recored the soundtrack in one unedited tack, really great stuff. I’ve been listening to that a lot recently.

Just done a couple of retro fish type quads this weekend to a compilation of the Specials flowing into a bit of Jefferson Airplane… even chucked a little bit of the Artic Monkeys into the mix as well…shapes came out ace but I think I spent more time ‘funny dancing’ than shaping!
For the ‘‘retro shaping experience’’ try the Beatles Sargent Peppers album. It instantly transports me to the North Shore, circa 1967.
Dark side of the moon is a GREAT shaping album.

Glassing depends on mood, sometimes Muse’s Black holes and revelations. Other times Black Flag, DK’s, Social distortion.
Sanding, whack on the MP3 player on shuffle with everything from Roy orbison, Andrea Bocelli, to Sabbath.
Fixing dings its Shihad/Pacifier or the first 2 albums from Stone temple pilots, sometimes even the Strokes.

I found myself listening to ‘harder’ music when I had the planer in my hands, and softer music when I was blending the rail bands together with a sheet of sand paper… Just an observation…

That’s one of my firm favourites…always located next to the player in my workshop…I also find that classic ‘The Who’ tracks from the same period really get the curves flowing!
I’ll reserve the Sargent Pepers for the gun…(still yet to start once the customer’s boards are out of the picture)…ps stil not heard anything from the guys at FU about the thick foiled fin…

I was expecting pure mellow grooves but in fact there a huge mix of sounds happening here, I totally need mellow for getting the mood right for shaping. Glassing I like something with more urgency, for sanding I don’t even bother cos my sander/polisher is so damned noisey.
Last night it was making jigs and drilling and cutting for fin box and plugs so I chose some Arctic monkeys and Metalica which worked well for me.
I was up at FU yesterday, wish I’d known. I’ll call them for you today.
Set my plugs and box tonight accompanied by Pink Floyd animals, followed by Darkside of the moon (I had some tidying up to do aswell) Animals totally did it for me then Dark side just iced it for me…Good night, shit job, oh well I’ll fix it tomorrow to the same tunes.
