Whats the deal with Stand Up Surfers

I have learned to stand up, I like it and will it replace surfing no. But at the local breaks here there’s quite a few guys doing it. Early on I saw a few guys who ripped they walked the nose, carved turns, and surfed the wave similar to long boarding. But lately all the guys I see just stand there ride along the wave and keep paddling. They are already in the wave and they keep paddling on the face, I guess to get more speed. I don’t understand your board is 10-11ft, it’s 4" thick, and around 30" wide. Your going probably as fast as you can on a board already with this volume. I don’t see any walking the nose or nose riding (actually today I saw one guy cross step once). After watching a few I get stoked to see a good longboarder hang five and rip. It’s almost a breath of fresh air. Anyone feel the same? I could be opening up a can or worms here.

I don’t mind em, sometimes your just to high to work at it! lol

ususally I’m focusing on trying to stay out of the people’s way, following the 10 rules, and about my own smurfing ability

but hey let them surf they way the want to.

Check out the thread going about this issue.
