What's Up With Just Foam

Any body knows what’s up with Just Foam? I sent them several emails and left voice messages to get a pricing on blanks and shipping with no response. This is not a very good first impression.

Thanks,

D

From what I heard today, Scott (owner) was in Costa Rica on vacation and upon his return he became ill with a flu of sorts and was still sick on Monday. I’d imagine he fields most of the calls/emails himself.

They are up to their ears in foam going out, I have been using Just Foam for some of my orders and when I went to pick up blanks they were in the middle of getting a container off to Hawaii and processing a Channel Islands order.

They have bright colored foam for t-band stringer too, much crisper colors that US Blanks

So now that we are on the topic of foam…

Who is still out there to buy a good foam blank product from?

I used Clark until Grubby stopped… Then Walker until they went under… then King Mac until they gouged me with their new prices… then Bennett until they went under… I still have blanks, so I haven’t been buying, but I need to know who to go to once my supply is out.

use just foam, jim uses it, ci uses it, and they’re right there in oside.

oh yeah!!!

Call Curtis, he will get back to you asap.

They are in the middle of a big sale and processing

a lot of orders, including mine!! Scott has been

out of country in various spots including the afore

mentioned costa rica, but the crew is still cranking

them out. I’m glad that they are in the US and

want to support our economy in my own humble

way. Curtis can be reached at: 1-760-532-1750

Be sure to have your deck rockers ready to go if

you are going to be machine cutting as well as your

color picks and stringer choices for the stringer

glue-ups. Mele Kalikimaka!

Thanks for the update.

Has Bennett gone down aswell??? I haven’t purchased one in a couple months but I have been going just down the street here in Va BCH to Dave Barnes wherehouse. I heard nothing of him closing up. I’m screwed if he did.

SurfDad,

David Barnes (Sea Level) just became the new East Coast Distributor for Surfblanks. He just received a 53 foot container a little over a week ago. He has everything from shortboards to longboards with offsets. Thank you.

Whew! Mahalo.

Aloha Kawika:

I’ seem to have tried them all lately, but for my money Surfblanks America are the best out there in terms of foam quality. They also have a wide range of plugs. The people at there operation are also great to deal with so pretty much can’t go wrong.

It’s “Frye” brother… not Fry…

A few years ago Skip was telling me about how he was going to get someone to pour a new “Long Fish” mould for a larger blank than the 6’9" blank so he could shape himself one that he could get up on. His longest 6’9" was too small for him. He said his mind is all about it, but his body won’t let him get up quick enough to compete with the crowd.

Thanks Kawika too many years of calling him Skip! Plus english was always my worst subject (cut into my surf time!).

Kawika,

We have been toying with the idea of also making 7-8 or 7-10 in the series. Do you think there is a demand for this size fish plug? Thanks.

I just purchased a 6’2",6’8" and 7’2" surfblanksamerica from dave barnes. The width on all three of these blanks are 20" x 25" x 20" which is something ive waited for a long time to do big boy fishes. The foam is so hard and dense its amazing! Ive taken the bottom of the 6’2" Blank down 3/4" and still are as hard as the 1st 1/8"of an inch. Better get some 20 grit on these suckers to rough sand. I havnt glassed one yet but im blown away by these blanks soo far. Im heavy footed and normally mash my decks untill they look like golf ball dimples. Cant wait to try these out…

Dont be dumb…get ya sum…

Bob

If the surfblanks america foam is the same foam as the surfblanks in aus are ( which im guessing they are?? ), then it is very good. My RED foam fish, with 6x66 glass job is basically dent free after 2 years of constant use. Ok, it has a strong glass job, but i use it all the time, and i recently cleaned the wax off, and couldn’t believe the condition it is in. Only a few small dents, which are very shallow, and no delam.
