whats with the Chinese writing all over general discussion

This is an example of whats going on .
First i thought it was from the one person bet if you go back five pages someone else is doing it also.
Is this an attack!

Looks like Korean characters.

North Korean hack…

Makes no sense so it must be fat baby kim oon

Looks like another asian dialect but a different person is the poasting.

Dont they have an asian swaylocks, they have x factor asias got talent so i cant see why they cant make asian swaylocks.

Its not ideal.

The points system needs a upgrade…Maybe verify new members posts before threads post online?

Happen again today I suspected it’s the exact same person that’s been doing it all along I think they login as a new user and they’ve got some sort of grudge against the site

just looked like Chinese spam to me.  Trying to sell shit in a foreign language…doesn’t get much stupider than that, in my opinion.  I deleted all of them I saw.

Hi keith you might already know this but i’ll mention it just in case: you can go to edit account and then delete account and it gives you the option to delete every posting at the same time with one click. Kinda handy cuz sometimes they’ll post like 30 threads.

New abuser - bmw4000  , 30 posts this morning so far for a dot com something or other in pictographs.

Would it be possible to regulate new users to a posting limit, say 3 a day?

And limit new posts per IP address the same way?

Or allow vetted members to flag unvetted content as spam?

I hate to see the moderators have to do all this manually but certainly appreciate their efforts.

I deleted the new spammer’s account and all his posts once I saw them.

THANK YOU !

only this time its worse, because the current batch of glitches has eliminated the moderators’ access to user pages (can anyone access their account info page???).

So what Keith described above is no longer possible. Spammers cannot be banned, and spam can only be deleted one post at a time, a hugely tedious process if there is more than a handful. The current spammer asdsdm00p3 is dumping 40 - 50 spam posts a whack, about twice a week.

Moderators are working hard to keep general discussion and a few other folders clear, but its pretty overwhelming, and some folders are sagging under the weight of all that spam.

We’re doing the best we can, but if anyone knows Mike Paler and can contact him and give him a heads up, maybe we could get this under control before it gets entirely out of hand. Thanks.

My user page is just a blank white screen.

If my Korean translation is accurate, the posts said something to the effect of, “Good foam, no dog parts. New Skil 99 planer, 47 KRW each”

Whatever you all do, DO NOT click on any of the links, or even the post. If it looks funky, it probably is.

I had to fix my bosses website earlier in the summer. It is basically automated attacks. Spam bots crawl the web and look for specific sites, e.g. with forum software, and automagically create accounts.

On my bosses site they uploaded a bunch of malicious php code which redirects users and could be used to infect your computer. In addition they want balls to the wall and sent out several hundred thousand spam emails in a weekend using his server.

A couple easy fixes are just to require captchas in order for people to create accounts. There is also some pretty good free antispam software.

For those that want a little fun, spam is not always what it seems, here is a site where you can “encode” a message, and make it look like spam

Spam on my favorite forum, WHAT???!!!

we will hunt it down and snuff it out!

It’s the Chinese president elect Dong-Ah Trum saying he’s going to Make China Great Again.
