when you can't help but over engineer somthing

So this is my first post, but I have been lurking in the shadows and steeling tips and advice for years, in fact this is only my 4th board but yesterday I got out my old shaping racks and decided they would no longer cut the mustard.
The new ones can go up and down swivel and be locked off, can also be leveled and as a bonus they were built from old junk I had lying around. Only just started this board but the new stands seem to be doing the trick.

My Wife is from Sussex.  Where do you surf?

Take care with leveling the tops of the racks.  The amount they are out of level across the top, is the amount of twist in the board you will end up with. As for over engineering, you’ve come to the right place, and are among friends.

Local I mostly surf witterings, but i get away lot/ as often as possible.

In regards to the leveling tops, That is the very reason for the level-able tops, I’ve never had a level workshop floor. To over come this problem my old racks were clamped into workmates , haven’t decided yet but I might add a length of steel box section between the two tops in order to keep them level with one another.

A local shaper on sways first one i have seen good to see im not the only one! love the stands, odviosly made from old stalls but you say you can lock them from rotating? is that a function you have added yourself?

Yeah man, just welded a couple of nuts onto the shafts then you can tighten wing-bolts down onto the bit that rotates, as they have gas lifts in them this also stops them lifting them selves up when the workshop gets hot.

nice one good job! will keep a eye out at the witts for you. let me know if you need any glass i buy 100m rolls of 6oz aerialite/porcher extra wide cloth and also working on a cnc for eps boards.
