I live in Santa Cruz, CA. and on my drive to work out in the valley, I saw 1/2 dozen cars driving to the coast w/ boards packed on the roof. Not sure why everyone from the valley is driving to Santa Cruz today coz the forecast says it’s a lake out there today. So…Where are you surfing today?
I’m working 5 minutes from the beach in north l.a. county and its a lake here today!
We usually hit the beach breaks south - like manresa beach, moss landing, and maybe Rio del mar if there’s a swell. Are you new to Santa Cruz, or are you just getting ideas on where to surf? Try Manresa, or La selva beach!
T-Street in San Clemente. The good ‘ol Pacific Lake was beautiful today. 1’ - 3’ windswell. At least the weather was great and the water is warming up.
I saw waves today that were definitely doable if I wasn’t on daddy duty all day

Beautiful conditions this morning with sets maybe 2 - 4+ feet overhead. Powerful enough to pull the brass pin out of the leash plug on my semi-gun that a buddy was riding! Got 7 or 8…couple of nice drops on the West Peak and a few off the point…

Been surfing Del Mar cliffs and beachbreak the last 3 days on my log at 5:30am. SUPER small, but awesome conidtions otherwise. Then I’ve been hitting up spots from La Jolla to Sunset Cliffs in the late afternoons after work. Small, but workable on a log.
Long flat spell here. Solid surf expected this weekend.
You didn’t miss much, gnarly. Sanded the first lams on an EPS (about guaranteed to delam thanks to Zerovoc test and likely meltage due to UV poly leaks) in my bay south o’ town, then stopped at a beach break to wash the resin off & wished I’d brought my Simmons – 3-4 foot faces, crumbly, but not crowded – then picked up beer before checking the ES. Two spots were 3-4 foot faces in the bowl and then mushhhhh, but not too crowded. Every wave that was rideable for more than 35 feet had at least 25 people on it.
Summer is here. The people who didn’t get a ski season are, too.
Beer was the right call.
But I should’ve brought my Simmons.
a firing outside beachbreak here in town with just one of the local crew…sunny, 80 degrees, warmest water of the year, HH with some + sets…session #6 after the hip replacement…had a reeling left that put a smile on this stoked elder…

Can’t go wrong with Simmons. I don’t have one but a buddy has one. I saw some purple on radar last week but didn’t get a chance to go out. Should be fun this weekend 3’s over at 38th and 4’s over at the Point. But gotta head down to San Diego for work tomorrow and I’m gonna check out my fave spots in SoCal…Trestles up North or Cardiff down South.
