I have always gotten it at fiberglasssupply.com, they sold it by the pound… Now they have switched to selling it by the bundle “enough to do 30 fins”, at what looks like a higher price.
Anyone know where I can still get it cheap?

I have used strands pulled from 6oz cloth. It does not take long. There are some cloths available that are great for cutting strands for fins. Sorry, I do not remember the type of cloth.

I’ve tried pulling out roving, didn’t like the look. As for buying their bundles, I do a lot of leashloops on my boards, and I don’t like the thought that someone has already cut the rope for me for my “convenience”. I love the endless strand I have on a roll in my garage.

Go down SPID to the Ace/True Value? in Flour Bluff. They carry the HDuty roving by the yard. You can pull out the giant strands and twist your own rope.
A yard of this stuff goes a long way and once wet out I don’t think you can see the difference. PM me with your Addy and I’ll send you a piece to try, I rarely use it and it needs to go before the mice get into it.
