Is it a foot up from the tail and a foot up from the nose? Thanks
Yes, you are correct. 12" is the standard as far as I know.
Yes, you are correct. 12" is the standard as far as I know. And A really bad standard IMO. 12" back on a 6’0" is 16.6% back from the tip, while 12" back on a 9’0" is 11.1% back. You’re measuring different parts on the curve when you stick with a standard 12" measurement. Not really that important when you’re making all kinds of different, 1-off boards, but when you’re trying to make scaled up and scaled down versions of the same board (say…with a computer program… [wink] ) Sticking to the 12" measurement causes all kinds of confusion: Like “how come my 6’6” x 19" has a NARROWER nose than my 6’0" x 19" ??" I made myself a ruler that is basically a ‘15%’ ruler (it has marks on it that show where 15% back from any size board is…) and it really helps if you’re gonna sacle your dimensions up and down mathematically in any way. P.S. Don’t get me started about how rocker is measured!!! [wink] http://www.kklmachine.com
so then Tyler, what is your recommendation? 15% from both nose and tail? lets say im making a ten foot longboard youre saying the nose section is 1.5 feet?
