the discussion about hulls made me think of him.He had a shop in SB in the seventies. One time he was gluing wetsuits in his shop and we got blasted on tolulene by accident!!! I had to walk around the block!!!Anyways, he made beautiful eggs.It was when SB was kinda a closed area.Anyone know if he still shapes?Tolulene!!!hahahah scary stuff!
KP has bean in recent contact with him.he is living in the far north.Still surfin’ making boats and a few boards.
friends of mine had some of his flex-tailed stubbies, which i would ride every chance i got.wish they still had them…
Tim is alive and well , lives in Alaska still surfing and shaping. He will have a website up soon Shapes and Hulls.30yrs old and I still have 2 of Bowlers boards in full service.A new flextail is in the works .Those were goood wetsuits too.It did stink when he had 2 or 3 going at a time.Id shoot about 10 to 15 gloss coats at Yaters then hang at Tims till I could go back and pull the tape,I cant belive Im not dead.
yeah they were ripcurl I remember !! I wore a long sleeve springsuit he made meat winter rincon and was warm.He liked my lis fishes at the time.Very nice guy.Ha ha one of the best wetsuits I ever had! They were the first rip curl I think.Tolulene also Lis nickname[smile]
I might be mistaken so maybe you can help me out on this… if memory serves me right, Tim Bowler used epoxy back in the 70s??? I seem to remember a longboard he did (maybe used?)in the racks at the old Yater shop. It wasn’t impeccably finished or anything but it was the first epoxy board I’d ever seen.
Hey John was the board black cause Tim did some carbonfiber boards .I dont remember any epoxy boards but could be .Tim kick in here and let them know.
Nope - it wasn’t carbon. Might have been a different location though.
