hey guy i just shaped a 5’6 twin fin fish and i wanted to no how far the fins shoulb be up from the tail and how far off the rail. thanks
Bojangles,
I line the fins(keels) with the tips, usually about 1 1/4 inches off the rails. The rear edge I line up with the top of the butt crack. Usually about 6 to 6 1/2 inches. Check the archives for many answers to your same question including mine about 3 years ago. Symetrical foils straight up,no toe in. Asym. foils 2 degrees cant and 1/8 inch toe in.Mike
5~6" inch from the tail tip n 1~1.5" inch from the rail …
Assuming it’s a “modern” fish outline (not an old-school fish with a huge swallow tail), a tail width of 15.25-16" and a midpoint width of around 20-21" with a tail rocker of around 2.25" with nothing too radical in the outline or big rocker breaks, I would start at about 9.5" up from the tail and 1.5"-1.75" off the rail line. Fin base around 5" and fin depth around 5.5".
hope this helps…
What those guys said–as the planshape gets more ‘old school,’ the fins should moved back to compensate for the wider tail.
hry it is acctually aol school fish out line with a big swallow tail can u help with that
