I have seen 6ft lengths at home depot but I am looking for 8ft. Where do you get these things? I searched the archives only to find cantankerous threads on the proper method of measuring rocker but no aluminum sources!

go to any town, and go to the local metal shop. Lot’s of time it will be a recycle place. Can’t find it, look up welding materials, can’t find it there look up trailer repair, can’t find that…look up metal fabrication, can’t find that look up Dune Buggies.
It will be a hell of a lot cheaper at a metal shop than the home depot. 8ft peice of 3/16 x 2 x 2 channel aluminum should be about $20.00.

Forget about the aluminum and get a small laser level… a much better way to measure rocker.

You can get it from home depot. Buy aluminum “carpet thresholds " comes in 6’, 8,’ and 12’ lengths. I just shaped a 9’6” and that is what I used. I also used it for my outline it is flexable side to side but striaght and ridgid on edge. (it is also what JC used in his shaping 101 video) Couldn’t find it on HD website (they do have it though) here it is on lowes website.
