Which blank should I buy to make an 8'6" board?

Can anyone recommend which blank for an 8’6" board. This is my first blank that I will attempt to shape so I’m wondering how much bigger should I go in case I make mistakes. --NM

Aloha, I used the 87R to make a 8"6" I like that blank for its thickness and rocker, if you want a little more length, maybe the 92R would be good

If your looking to make a mini LB 8’8"E is a good blank. It has lots of thickness to play with. I used it for my second board 8’6" miniLB, natural rocker with a little v and a bit more kick in the tail and small conave in the nose, turned out to be an excellent noserider even for my 210 lbs.

JR; I’m doing same thing as you; with same blank. What dimensions did you use; if I might ask? Thanks.

18.5x23.5(3"fwd)x14.75 if I remember correctly I used most of the blank in the middle. It’s wide but then so am I and it’s by far my favorite board that I’ve made or bought. My first attempt at pigment, inlay and pinlines…uuugly (no pic posted
