Greetings. I have searched the archives concerning achieving a white logo background. I want to make sure I understand the process. White Krylon Acrylic spray paint on backside of rice paper, right? Either before or after printing, correct? Will the paint soak through the rice paper? The only Krylon acrylic paint I could find was acrylic enamel. Is this the right stuff? Thanks for the help.
Richard…flat or mat finish, two or three light coats is best…spray before printing…I tried doing it the other way and the white paint seeped into the printed ink.
I have used acrylic enamel and did not have any problems…
Howzit richard,You can use white acrylic paint but thin it with acrylic paint thinner since thinning with water can mess up the rice paper.Aloha,Kokua
You’ll need to use very heavy rice paper with the krylon paint. I print the paper, tape it to a piece of cardboard, and spray 3 very light coats. Carefully knock off any junk that stuck to the paint with a piece of scotchbrite before you untape it. If it wrinkled, use a warm iron and sandwich it between two clean sheets of paper. Apply it over the sanded hotcoat and spread enough lam resin under it because it won’t absorb thru from the front. Use a hard bondo squeegee or credit card and sheet of plain paper over it to get it flat and the air out. Carefully remove the paper when you think it’s flat. Some paint may bleed out from underneath so be ready to clean it up before the resin gels with a little acetone on a paper towel. If there’s no air bubbles, lam it with 2 or 4 oz. cloth cut exactly to the logo border. Hotcoat 3-4" outside the lam so you can blend in the higher surface during sanding.
For my logos i sent my logos to a company in va beach va called tidewater emblems to be printed they cost about a $1.00/ea but its worth it for a pro looking board. ive lost the number but just call 411 gook luck.
