White Scotch Brite Pads

I’ve had a couple of people tell me that I should scrub my epoxy boards with warm water and a white scotch brite pad before lightly sanding and fill coating. This removes any contaminates from the epoxy apparently. How many people have tried this? Furthermore, why would there be contaminates in the epoxy? Are people talking about dust? If so why not just blow off the board? Greg Loehr, if you are reading this have you ever used/recommend one of these things? Or are 3M trying to start some sort of conspiracy amongst people who use epoxy? 3M, if you are reading this, what are you up to?

Don’t forget to wear gloves, sweat from your fingers will affect the hotcoat as well…

Not too sure about the scotchbrite scourers, use metho (denatured alcohol) to clean as a final prep before the hotcaoat…

Thanks. Any suggestions for what to use as a rag? Cheese cloth?

Use something that won’t fluff up or disintegrate, metho can melt some man made fibres…

I’d go for cotton, like old cotton undies…

I use a greenie and Dawn dish soap.

i think that was the old system for dealing with “blush”… but i do use a greene and dish soap w/gloves before glossing…
