Whose Oceanside factory just went up in Smoke?

Just saw this on ABC 10 news San Diego.

Could not identify from Video.

‘They’ said Acetone was the culprit.

Global Glassing.
100 boards a week outta that factory.
Sad.

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN.

I bet there were a couple hundred boards in there.

How much Damage to Hydroflex and Chem?

I guess hydro has some bad water and smoke damage.

Chemistry supposedly made it out ok…

Heard there were se burn victims… Total bummer.

All my info is second hand, take it as that.

My wife told me about it. She works across the street at TERI.
I picked her up from a holiday party b/c they had a few drinks… Anyway - they said the whole building was burned and it looked like hydro flex was burned out…

I feel bad for jeff he’s a great guy !

Not to make light of this, but have you ever heard this story?
A guy working as a glasser dumped a good volume of dirty acetone in the toilet at the shop. A little while later he goes to take a dump and lights a smoke while on the throne. Flicks the match into the bowl and blows himself right off the seat.
Acetone is dangerous stuff.

Yeah gotta say; NO!!! Never heard that Bull Shit story. But when you pull Bull Shit outta your Ass.; Anything can happen. Right Bro ??

Notice how I refuse to reply to Mr Personality? Still grindng that same dull axe. Sad.

…there was a guy (an underwater guy who controlled the sea–sorry- Pixies tune) member here, a fine laminator, that worked on that factory. I do not remember the nick, but the name is Nainoa I think.

HeHaw!!

I will definitely be being more careful with acetone.

The version I heard was essentially the same, but it was a mechanic and gasoline not acetone. He didn’t get blown off though, the seat was fused to his ass and they had to unbolt the seat before he was transported to the hospital.

Seriously though, never keep any chemicals in a non-sealed container unless you’re using them right now especially acetone. People want to save a buck by keeping non-sealed containers of dirty acetone sitting around for days. You can get a pump dispenser (sealed) that fits 1 quart metal cans for small jobs when acetone is needed. Do the big cleaning jobs outside if possible. For small-scale glassing, dump dirty acetone, resin, etc in a 5 gallon bucket of kitty litter that you keep outside.
