I just wanted to share some resources I have found for wood. Apologies if these have previously been published here. First, two sources for smallish pieces in small quantities, for modest prices. Some of the offerings are sized and priced such that their appeal may go beyond makers of wooden boards to builders who just want a chunk or two of decorative wood for that special fin, or tailblock.
Frigo Designs (remnants from custom cabinets & countertops) Shipping from Syracuse, NY. They sell the “whole cow”, right down to the “hooves and hair” (i.e., sawdust)
Curly Maple (namesake & other hardwoods, some small quantities, NW PA)

The following sites aren’t really for small buyers, but you can find the names of quite a few small dealers by plowing through the listings. That’s how I found Curly Maple.
Wood Web - wood buyer/seller exchange, mostly large quantities
http://www.woodweb.com/…exchanges/lumber.cgi
Wood Planet - another market geared to quantity - many items on Wood Web & Wood Planet point to the other site
Hope this info helps someone out.
