World trip help/suggestions...

Hey All -

My son, James, will be traveling to various locales in the near future. His itinerary will include:

Melbourne- Torquay/Port Phillip Island, Australia (Jan 24- Feb 5); Auckland and Raglan, New Zealand (Feb 6-Feb 13); Buenos Aires and Mar De Plata, Argentina (Feb 13-25); Santiago and Pichilemu, Chile (Feb 25- March 12); Lima and Mancora, Peru (March 12-March 24); and Guatemala (March 24- April 2).

Can any Swaylockers give him any advice on or clue him in to these locations?

Thanks!

Yea don´t count on getting waves in Guatamala those dates. Of course its possible but I wouldn´t even bring a board, do something else, check out ruins and the lakes and stuff.

Hi John,

how is James planning to get around in Melbourne/Torquay/Phillip Island? Public transport from the city to those surfing areas is pretty much crap. He will probably need to hire a car.

Torquay won’t be the best around that time of year. He maybe lucky to strike a swell but most likely not. Winds are normally not the best either at this time of year for that area. But Johanna, which is a few hours down the coast, is great at this time of year.

Phillip Island’s beachbreaks are generally pretty good this time of year so he should get waves there.

Check out www.swellnet.com.au

PM me if he needs somewhere to stay in Melbourne for a day or two as we have a spare room he could use if he doesn’t mind staying in the “burbs”.

Cheers

Rohan

Hi Rohan -

He went to school in Melbourne for a year a couple of years back. I don’t think he visited the coast at all though.

Thanks very much for your generous offer. I’ll be sure and let him know!
