I have been looking at the XTR boards and they seem to be really good. Matt Biolos posted on surfermag.com that they are super durable and even Andy Irons like 'em alot. I am wondering if anyone out there has had problems with them.
find some one whos got one and see what they think after 3 months or a summer at least ,i can give you my opinion coz ive built about 120 maybe 130 xtr with epoxy /glass and epoxy /timber/glass ,i wont say anything nice , but the crew out there using the stuff now may have solved some of the problems the stuff consistently has ,so i wont write it off completly , it has potential if some basic problems can be overcome. regards BERT
I just got back from 10 days in Costa Rica - air mid 90’s and water in the 80’s. Not one ding from the airlines and not one problem with the materials. The boards ranged in age from 2 - 1 years old and 9’ - 10’. When we weren’t surfing them the boards were outside on the patio without bags. One day we went to Playa Negra but didn’t surf and the boards stayed on the roof all day in board bags - it was friggin’ huge and hot as hell out. So many people were asking about the boards in the water. Some may have different experiences but that was mine. I’m a fan of all materials out there and XTR is one option to consider.
damm that sounds great. The more I hear about these boards, the more I want to get one.
Mark it’s only foam. I don’t know you so please don’t take offence - just like any of the options out today you can still can bust 'em and they can delam but most importantly how they surf is up to the shaper and rider.
And by the way if you’re close to SF you can ride my long board anytime.
