Yep, just got this blank (somewhat pre-shaped) for dirt cheap.

Problem is I don’t know what to do with it. Reason being that the 2 outer stringers are too damn close to the rail! right now they are 2" away from the rail. Does that seem a little too close?

here’s the dimensions as of now…

8’5’’

23 1/2’’

nose 19 1/2’’

tail 15 1/2’’

and 3 1/2’’ thick

Now 23 1/2’’ is pretty wide to me, but i don’t want the stringers to be right on the rail if I narrow it up a bit.

Got any ideas guys? What should i shape? I was thinking mini noserider or Cooperfish comet-like with a little bit-o-hull…

Here’s a couple of ideas…

Make a step-up out of it 19 wide max… round pin, pulled nose, flat to vee…and forget the side stringers. That would be functional, but a waste of a cool looking blank.

Or… keep the same basic template, but cut that Plain Jane tail off and glue on a sweet wood tail block. Maybe even a nose block, too.

I thought about the step up idea a little bit also,

but it would kinda be a waste of a blank

i like the nose and tail block ideas thought,

maybe ill get a little creative with that…

my 2 cents-

if you want a narower board w/o touching the outer stringers,

you can cut the blank along the center stringer ( both sides) ,

then cutting the foam and gluing it back to the center stringer.

Vualla… narrower blank.

you can also cut the foam diagonally ending with diagonal stringers…OR just gluing both sides together

w/o the center stringer…hmmmm colored glue line…Yummi

if you ask me- the blank is beautiful as is , even the template is nice just finish it and glass it clear.

you can write on the board “Lee is the king” … i don’t mind :slight_smile:

That outline already looks SICK, i’d just take down the width a bit, contour the bottom and turn the rails. Done.

edit* i meant just take down the thickness a bit…keep the width and outline

I really like the outline as well. So just add some bottom contours and turn the rails is what I would do.

thanks everyone for your input, I think I’ll skin her down to 3 1/8’’ thick, 23’’ wide and keep the length where it is.

As for bottom contours, concave under the nose flowing out to the center to a slight belly and v out of the tail? how does that sound?

And of coarse 50/50 rails :slight_smile:
