Your most travelled board....

Hey all, I was just wondering who has some well-travelled board stories out there, I’d have to say mine with the highest mileage is a 3-fin bonzer that was the second board that I shaped. I bought the blank in Encinitas, it travelled from there to Tucson, AZ on the roof of my car, then from Tucson to Logan, UT, where I shaped and glassed it, from Logan back to Tucson, then back over to San Diego, up the coast to LA, then on a plane from LA to Seoul, Korea, from Seoul to Auckland, NZ, then by car down the length of the north island, over the Cook Straight on the ferry, down the coast to Kaikoura, then all over locally, then by plane from Christchurch to Auckland to Fiji, to a smaller island 70 miles away, back to New Zealand again, and now it’s back at home in my garage in Kaikoura. All in all, by rough estimate I’d say about 22,500 miles or 36,000kms by road and air, a pretty good distance! Who else has some distance on their quiver to report?

This board is so fun to travel with! hiking through woods to go surfing secret spots. smiling in the back when going to the only McDonalds in a hundreds of miles. carrying it in a multi board cover with other boards through airports onto shultle buses to perfect pointbreaks. cruising solo in the back of the 4wd as the unspoilt perfect nature just cruises by down south. in the back while driving the perfect long trip up north. sitting in the campervan checking spots in the sun. soo fun. did i mention beautiful secret beaches?

this boards been everywhere with me aswell

anyone else?

this thread looked like it’d be full of great stories but seemed to just dissapear.

Two of my favorites have happy endings.

One, a 6’7" in-line, made on Reunion in early 90s, got me some of the best waves I’ve ever had, and the one in my avatar. It eventually went back with me to Australia where it had good waves, from west coast Vic and Phillip Island, up to Byron, and even grovelled in Port Douglas. It then went to South Africa with me, and went to Madagascar a few times, which is where it now lives with a local guy who hopefully is getting good waves on it now.

The other, a 6’3" in-line, made in Byron in the mid 90s. Did the same travels as the other, and ended up with a different guy in Mada.

Both magic boards for me, both fully designed, glassed and sanded by me, including fins and boxes.

I trust they still catch waves and bring hapiness to those who ride them.

Mines a quad fin 6’ x 20" kevlar epoxy, build it in Darwin in 94 its been round the word on board our yacht 55,000 nautical miles surfed it just about every where

Its still a great little board and has many years left in it yet

I dont surf it much these days but it sits in the corner and reminds me of the good times

I take it out a couple of times a year,as soon as you catch a wave on it the memorys come flooding back
