the skinny guy is ChrisP...
.....A few years ago ChrisP gave Stingray a very cool 80's quad...the board needed some work.....
This year ChrisP gave Stingray a very cool 70's twin...the board needs some work....this thread is all about Swaylock's Stoke...Sharing the Stoke! We're going to fix up this board and loan it out .....go ride it....the 80's quad is up in San Fran right now.....it's all about riding boards..sharing rides...getting stoked!!!!!!
Some people say I'm wasting my time,,,that's Ok........I'm going to post up some "before" photos and then make comments as I go through the repair / restoration process................
That’s ok Sting. Brownie can use it to build the high speed rail from Bakersfield to Modesto. You don’t REALLY believe it was for the kids do you? Lookin forward to the restore, too. Mike
these are the threads that make swaylocks [good] !
I eagerly await the photos of the process , Ray , thanks very much
what are the dimensions of that , and do you know anything of the history of the board ?
also , the wood fins with the yellow pigment / tint in the foil look interesting ...
cheers
ben
Buz Gaver. What a great name.
Crisp. Can we nag cj a bit about making those blanks? I’ve got lots of resin if you want to do some boards. Mike
I talked to him a couple weeks ago on the phone and mentioned it…
I’ll shoot him an email…
Funny, I had a dream last night that we were all back at Plaskett.
Rooster, me, Ray, Ian, Jeff and everybody all hangin’ out on the cobblestones.
Only, in my dream it was big. What Ian would call bigger than “still fun waves”.
Probably not a twinnie, Ben. Quad or maybe a 5 fin?
yeehaa
.... how big , Mike ?
and , will you be using fin boxes , or plug , system[s] ?
cheers !
ben
Mine will be be a 5 finner Probox…
Did you ever get your XPS Mike?
If you want to have that guy Leon (I think pick 'em up, I’ll pitch in on $$$)
Oh, and to keep in on topic,…
I was feeling up that '80s quad yesterday. You did a fantastic job Ray!
Can’t wait to see how this one comes out… Still think you should scrap those fins and put in some boxes tho =)
Kidding only, I agree, the original fins should stay on it.
I’ll be watching S-Ray. Cool!
Just picked up an old HPSB (Impact), in west KY, from a colleague who found it in his Father-in-Law’s FL garage while visiting. I gave him 2 cases of IPA for it – was going to give him the beer anyway. Trying to decide how to go about repairing it – tempted to remove the spearpoint nose since it’s damaged anyway.
Look forward to following your project. The hair dryer was for wax removal?

Hi Ray , the second photo ...
....got me thinking [ which can be DANGEROUS ! :) ]
A combination of the two boards ?
[ by the way ...are they channels , where the yellow spray is , on the quad ? ]
a "winged swallow quad " ,
.... with a back F.U. fin box , for the single fin option , too...
that would be an updated version of the Crozier kneelo that I had , back in ? 1976/77 ? [which I stood up on , don't worry ...]
these are only my thoughts , for a board for me in the future , perhaps ?
Something like that could be a fun summer small wave board , if I made it the 'right' dimensions for me
back to you , though ...
I reckon this board will be great , and come up a treat , looking at how good the quad looks [do you have 'before' shots of the quad , by any chance ? ]
cheers !
ben
The quad was pretty rough Ben, I don’t think I have pics of it “before”, maybe Ray does…
Those are channels where the yellow is.
