Brett, how tall and wide is the arch portion between the wings?
I fully understand if you do not want to give up the exact dims. You have been most generous in posting this innovative concept at all.
However, I suspect you will modify this concept significantly before you have it dialed in anyway.

ASIDE: I am thinking this could come back full circle to a body board shape as well. Polyethylene (soft) foam, with EVA skin, over this structural shell.
Good idea Bill, I’m sure the people from Mattel are already tooling up a soft version !
I like Monkster1’s idea, it could easilly morph into a mini mat with some hard surfaces.
Mattel will not be interested until your sales become significant. Then they will swoop in.

The mat plane does have some possibilities for future tweaking. However, as you know Surffoils, you can control a full size mat by squeezing/releasing the sides. With a mat plane, it’s a lot harder to do any fine tweaking since there is only one hand on the mat. But as a light weight, easy to transport surf vehicle that can double as a pillow, I always have one around.

each handplane gets its own blueprint so I have records of its area, buoyancy, leading and trailing edge foil, etc…
This project kicks ass Brett.

Yeah I know the waves suck but it’s summer here 35 deg C and almost dead flat.
For some reason theres a lot of crap waves near cities.

What about a longer length, say forearm length with arm sleeve/ strap based on your current design?..u could get some extra leverage here and get over the plane more and farther forward.

Sparx, at the current dims this design has enough to give.
I’ve had to ask other handplane guys if they can bottom turn and carve up and down the wave like I can with these handplanes. None can.
At a larger dimension you could bodyboard it but I’ve already done over 100 foils for body boards.
