Any other Mat/Paipo surfers on the Aussie Surfcoast?

I’m gonna post this on surfmatz.com too, but I thought it’d be worth asking on Sways. Are there any Mat or paipo surfers on the westcoast of Victoria? I’m lookin to organise a get-together of like-minded crew for a day of prone fun followed by a few frosty ones! I’m from the Bells beach/Torquay area, but anyone interested would be more than welcome!

Cheers,

BJ.

Hey Brett,

I’m hangin to test one of your boards, and more than likely buy one too! I wasn’t planning anything too formal or organised, it was more of an idea to see who else was around in the area. For about two years I didn’t bump into a single alaia/paipo surfer, and since I’ve been riding the mat I never seen another! Prone surfing just doesn’t seem to exist down here, (outside of bodyboarding)

You may want to post here also ->   http://rodndtube.com/paipo/forum/index.php

yeah and you can hire a faith healer an see if he can heal all your legs so u can stand up

Sure, and maybe you can hire a psychologist to help build up your self-esteem so that you don’t always have to put shit on everyone else.

Bruce, coming from a standup background I didnt think prone riding involved much legwork, but after a year or so constantly on paipos/ bodyboards and mats Im building up these great calves and overall leg muscle definition from all the flipper-work.

I dont think my legs have ever been stronger and as an old guy Im pleased about that.

I'll go and get my deposit back from the wheelchair co..

Hi Idler, Ive moved down from the Goldie back to Sydney for a while, maybe even further south soon.

Whats the plan with your get-together? Kinda like a 'fish-fry' with boards, beer and bulldust ? Sounds good ! Have you picked a beach yet?

Bj,

I was down your way November. Brought a couple of paipo with me and had some really fun waves down south - GS was a real stoker.  I also surfed some real small waves with Lud from Bells - he reckoned he might make a wooden board, though I haven’t heard back from him as to any progress.

No plans for another trip, but would love to surf those reefs again.

There are a few collectors down your way with paipo but I don;t think these boards hit the water.

. every aussi kid living on the beach in the 70s 80s had a flippin surfmat ffs. they were more common than dogs bollocks. it aint nothing new or trendy. most of us figured out the next step of evolution of not being a dick dragger. all of sudden some trendy c#nts move from the city,  flood the lineup with kook fish, esky lids and sups . not to mention jetskis for weak pr!cks that cant paddle

We get it silly, you’re not interested in mats or paipo’s or alaia’s or fish or…I guess anything other than plain white 6’2 thrusters. It bewilders me why you spend so much time trolling threads that you obviously have no interest in. It almost seems to give you the shits that people can enjoy themselves in different ways. I know this is a public forum, and you’re entitled to your own tunnel-vision opinions. I guess if you only chimed in when you had something constructive or interesting to say, we’d probably never hear from you again!

Twice you've taken time out of your day to post your dumb shite comments, on just this one thread, without contributing anything.

I'd wager the people actually interested in this thread can surf circles around you.

Your comments on this and several other threads leads me to believe the only surfing you really do, is on the internet............

Uncle G,

Very silly,

Bob

dont diss the queen

lol the question posted was is there was any other mat surfers on the east coast. well the answer is evry man and his dog that lived at the beach has ridden one on numerous occaisons all through the late 70s and early eighties( you could buy them at K mart). its no exclusive club of individuals. thinking outside the square or alternate exotic surf craft that has some as yet untapped potential for amazing performance

it was as trendy as hoola hoops and yo yos and pretty well as easy to get bored with

No, the question was are there any mat/paipo surfers on the SURF coast, ie west vic.

I’ve been riding both down here for years and I’ve bumped into ONE other in all that time. I’ve never made the claim that mat riding is exclusive, its just that there are very few people who do it. I guess arcane would be a better word, look it up!

And if you think modern mats are anything like the one’s from the seventies, then you just have no clue. I just don’t get you silly. If it’s not your thing, then leave these threads the f#@k alone. Your opinions are useless and annoying. Stick to World of Warcraft or whatever other forums you like trolling!

If all the people you annoy here get together, you could be the next idiot banned from Sways!

Bj,

I wouldn’t take it seriously. Evolution and the royal family - pure irony.

Bob

thats the thing with me im just doing what seems to be the go on swaylocks. trying to fit in!

well as far as banning goes . i would be very dissapointed if i was banned and you all ganged up on me and banned me. but i wouldnt be surprized. people feel better when they can gang up on someone and exclude them because they are different

Thats just the thing silly, you’re not different.

You’re pretty much a carbon-copy of most of the surfers I run into day after day. I’m not claiming to know everything about you, I just mean the attitude you seem to bring to Sways.

Sorry if none of us are cool enough!

I’m finished with you.

Seeya!

why do you say im a carbon copy of most surfers?. i dont hang out with other surfers. even my mates that surf. i dont surf with them. i dont own any surf label clothing or ride anyboards other then the ones i make myself and they dont look like anyboards ive seen . i dont even really surf around other surfers if i can avoid them. i never go into surfshops or read/buy surf magazines and i dont give a shit about kelly slater. so when you say im a carbon copy do you mean in that i hang a bit of sh!t on d!ckdraggers. in otherwords have a bit of a sense of humour. i think thats kinda strange because i find most surfers to be fairly drab and uninteresting with little or no sense of humour at all. allthough you are correct in pointing out that being condescending  teasing and sarcasm are the lowest forms of humour. but i thought that americans and aussies like that, so im doing it to fit in to swaylocks
