Hey w4xhead

I’m sorry that I havn’t called you yet.

I have been absolutly flat out trying to get this pool finished.

I will give you a call tomorrow.

Cheers

PS: I will post a pic of my pool when its finished for all to see.

Hey w4xhead

I see you are using Col’s (Motivation Lines) fin boxes.

Col is a good freind of mine.

He has taught me so much.

I haven’t used his boxes as yet (I really like Speeedfins) but plan to use them on a fish project in the near future so I can make and play with differant fins.

Talk Soon

Hi MDS,

I’m really impressed with Col’s fin boxes. I load them up with fish keel fins and no cracks, even when coming up onto the rocks!

I would encourage anyone thinking of making a board to give Col’s fin boxes a go. He sells a kit that has router, templates, jigs, etc, even a small dvd of how to do it. Great package. everything you need to put them into a board. Which takes all the trial and error out of it. Nothing worse than finishing a board and finding a box is not quite there!

Can we post his contact details at this site? Overwise people can let me know if they want more details. Nothing like supporting some of our home grown products.

Glad the pool’s coming along well MDS.

Cheers

Andy

Yes please, post his stuff up here, got any pics of the box setup?

And then go and surf the Auslocks…

Motivation lines made up and glassed on the keels for my fish. A bit thin, but very strong, and the board is great, i love it. Still trying to figure out how to ride it backhand consistently, but that’s just my experience and ( lack of haha ) skill i think. My trailing finbox is one of his, looks good, and i think would be good for side fins, as you could have a stronger base, and you could place them to take fcs. EDIT, they DO take fcs, im pretty sure that when i made the trailing fin in the pic, i made it to suit fcs plugs, and it fits in the motivation lines plugs. The one in the pic was installed by them also. It is basically a long slot, with two screws, with the option of two screws at the front. I just use one front screw and one back one.

Cheers

A pic of the finbox.

…i think i better send you a back fin or two , mark , now i know that is fcs compatible

cheers

Sorry for the intrusion, but this seemed a good place to post travel notice:

Check it out

$3 flight price on 2nd ticket

in/about Australia/NZ

Pity - no Bali, but Vietnam is there.

www.jetstar.com

Just booked a quick trip to go surfing in Tassie - $72 return for each of us

Happy hunting

Sorry to bust up the party… but what about the excess baggage for your boards?

Travelling around Australia used to be less hassle… Qantas is still OK (last I travelled) but Jetstar and Virgin are starting to be a hassle.

-Cam

Hey ben, don’t worry about a back fin, i haven’t used one for ages. In saying that, if you wanna try my 2 out, i’ll be glad to send em over!. I found that when i first started riding the twin, i needed it for bigger or steeper waves, but now, i never use it. I do think i surf better on my backhand with a trailer, but it stiffens up my frontside, catch 22. I am getting better on my backhand though, so i dont think i’ll be using the trailer for a while.

So, you want em??

So has anyone ridden it, I want a go too…

Eventually…

Chip, got any fins that you’d like tested out on it?

Hey Guys

I handed the Auslocks over to w4xhead about 3 weeks ago.

I have’t heard anything since then.

Cheers

OK w4xhead,

What are you doing with it now?

Thanks MDS for taking care of it and passing it along…

I took care of it alright.

It never got wet when I had it.

If its still around here when I finished everything, I might get to at least put it in the car.

Cheers

Hi Hicksy, and all the rest of the Auslocks crew,

After a couple of weeks of pretty ordinary conditions I got the Auslocks board out on Saturday afternoon at Werri. The waves were smallish but nice and smooth. The Auslocks board went great from the outset, smooth turns and good pick up. I was anticipating some difficulty with the turns after reading previous posts, but absolutely no trouble there. Maybe as my usual board is one of Tom W’s D Fin paulownia’s, not a 6’ thruster? I used the Bonzer style fins and larger centre one, as were still on the board. As the afternoon progressed the wind eased a bit more and the afternoon was perfect. The board was a pleasure to ride and considering the idea behind the board, sharing and connecting people, I had plenty to reflect on between waves. Thanks Hicksy and others who contributed. But enough philosophy I hear you say. Who’s next? Back to MDS or down to Quentin? Or is someone else in this neck of the woods?

W4xhead

Great stuff W4xhead!!

Very good to get some feedback on it…

How did you find paddling, catching waves, the float etc…

What sort of weight/height are you…

Now get someone to get some piccies of it being ridden!!!
