Skeletor,
Your apology wasn’t quick enough for my read through this post, you are a sick skeleton and should not be taking pictures. Awful just awful. Later.

Ah…ha…ha…haaaaa…argh…ohhhhhhhhMyyyyyyyyyyyGodddddddddd!!!That was just sooooooooo wrong in more ways than one. Thanks for the laugh.
Last October I picked up a pair of red Katins from their shop in O.C. and love them. By far the most comfortable shorts I’ve ever owned. For the life of me, I couldn’t find them this past weekend. Nearly had a full blown meltdown searching for them. I think my wife hid them just to see how I’d react. Still haven’t found them damnit!!! Maybe I’ll take her underwear drawer hostage until they show up. ;)~
Any pair from the Rip Curl Outlet, but especially the ones with mesh-like lining. Only $20 or so…
skeletor,
I will never ever be the same again, having seen that picture. May the fleas of 1000 camels find a home on your crotch.
Katins are worth the effort- I ate my way out of a great pair some years ago. I might try Birdwell’s next. I’m actually using a pair of Honolua Surf Company trunks I got in 1999. Given the cooler water temps where I live I don’t get much trunk time in but these things have been worn 3-6 times a week year round in pools and hot tubs in addition to some kayak paddling and the limited warm water waveriding. Total abuse! The Birdwell website/catalog used to warn of warranty invalidation if you took theirs in hot tubs. The only thing that wore out on my Honolua trunks was the string tie, which I replaced with a shoelace.
My big gripe with non-surf industry trunks has been durability and those stinking useless side slash pockets most of them have. I have a presentable pair for travel and “social” occasions, and I have a friend who bought a pair years ago at K-Mart that he swears he can jump in a lake in and they don’t even get wet, but if they have pockets on them they have been useless to me for bodysurfing or any forms of prone equipment riding.
As for Huevos Rasheros, there is always the old Zuma Beach secret (known the world over)…wear a Speedo underneath. Provides protection from rash and bounce impact and makes it easy to change along roadsides everywhere, even bar parking lots. Helps if they are fully dry, of course.
Ross if you want a name brand. Old Navy if you just want cheap ones.
Birdwells, cheap. Go figure…

That nut picture is like some evil prank my pervert of a housemate would do, once the little bastard took a picture of his nuts and set them as wall paper on my cell phone. I probably deserve punishment for owning a camera phone, but still, lets be halfway reasonable.
And as for burning, it had been a nice weekend, winding down trying to get a little school work done and bless it, there was the most desicrated set of red white and blue i'd ever seen! How am i too focus now, i feel unclean.
May you never take Castle Grey Skull skeletor!
Huevos Rasheros…hahahahahahahahahaha!!!
Oh man you made me laugh so loud…
I have been surfing in a pair of Rusty’s for over five years now. These shorts have seen a lot of water time - pool, hot tub, and ocean. I throw 'em in the drier every time I wash them, too. Not one stitch has busted. The only thing starting to go is the velcro! Don’t you hate that. These are made of a real heavy, kind of course textured, nylon. I probably paid $45 - worth every penny. I love 'em. I have another pair of Rusty’s that have a funky color scheme and were on sale ($20)- so I bought them. They are holding up just as well. I have had good luck with O’neils also.
I was at Costa recently and found a deal on baggies -$15 dollars. They looked half way decent. The started falling apart on the first wash. I think you usually get what you pay for, but I still hate paying 40-50 dollars for shorts!
I like to peruse Goodwill for good trunks people bought for one reason or another and then decide they weren’t going to wear anymore… So sweet to find $40+ trunks for a five spot.
My plan is working! I think i used up all my karma with that post.
Banana Hammock with bunny ears
An interesting plan, so clever infact that i cannot foresee its goal, you are indeed a great tactician.
I think I will send that picture to others, just to brighten their days as well, and thats probably part of your plan too, world conquest via the bunny ears. Just show it to those poor swaylocks folks, and then they’ll show two people and they’ll show two people…
I love Birdwells but I ahve to say that I like Oakley’s the best.
After owning most of the brands out there I think their Board shorts are Superior in all aspects.
(Comfort, comfort when in the water, duriablity, and soild colors which are classic and never go out of style).
Cheers
-Tony
These are what I wear.
I don’t get rash with IR (Immersion research) boardshorts. Sold at REI, NRS, etc. Made for river running and are good at staying on through the spin cycle. I spent 8 years earning my keep in the back of a rubber oval…
This being swaylocks and all, and no one has a pattern they sew themselves?
I had a pair made for me by my old roommate out of ripstop nylon patterned after a favorite pair I got in Oz that had lived their useful life. Super light and comfy but they were a bit small so I ended up giving them to my nephew. She moved and I never got around to getting another pair made, but I’ve still got the patterns she used.
My buddy Harpo used to make killer boardshorts called Hippos but he got sick of it
BALSA BILL BOARDSHORTS at the BALSA BILL SURF SHOP.
same guy as used to be sundek in the 80’s.
high quality, lined, coconut buttons on the flap and wax pocket. best of all, they are cut so they don’t fall below the kneecap.
