best high performance longboard?

what is the best HP longboard you've ridden?

was thinking about getting a waterhog.

High performance longboard=6' 6" thruster with 3' stuck on the front

Funny you should say that Kayu, thats what I am shaping real soon....and I am not joking....

Well, why not Pridmore , a lot of other people are

what are they shaping exactly ? not quite sure if we are talking the same thing here.....

what kind of conditions are you riding these in?

something with a soft takeoff and a hollow inside?

what’s the reasoning behind this? Planing enhancement with a tail that fits in the pocket better?

I rode something like this, it had a 2" diamond tail with quad fin boxes and single fin box.  I made note of the measurements because it was a lot of fun.

9-2 17 1/4 22 1/8 13 1/2 2 13/16

Tri-fin BREWER ,with a gun style nose , 9’4’‘’…had like a 7’’ middle fin, SMALL length on the side fins. I guess im stating the obvious, but the fins, placement, make and size can really change the handling characteristics of any long board .The BREWER really ripped in big HAWAIIAN juice. The non traditional gun style nose was was out of the norm for me, it was NOT your rounded nose rider style nose, you could still walk the board, but it really performed goin down the line carving the wall. CHARLIE SMITH/LOCAL MOTION 9’ 4’‘, tri-fin,pin tail.amazing. 8’2’’ JEFF DIVINE/ ROCKET/ O’NEIL/SANTA CRUZ tri fin-glass-ons,pin tail,step-deck…ALOHA

twin fin pearson arrow . concave nose to flat to vee . it was a 9 foot high performance shortboard . super fun in anything over waist high .

I have a 9’ 4" that has a tail similar to a shortboard with a squash tail and a lot of kick in the nose like a gun, but it has a wide nose. It handles big waves really well, but I don’t think it would be as good in small stuff. My brother had it custom made and then I bought it from him.

Get a Ben Aipa Longboard!

Probably get written off as its a surftech, and only 8'6, but my mate has a steven slater model. Not sure on numbers, except its 2 1/2'' thick. Wide nose, round pin tail 2+1. Paddles sweet, light as, so can be turned hard, but very stable up on the nose ( i cant noseride but i imagine it would noseride fine,as i can get my front foot pretty much there, and like i said im no noserider ). tak 7 1/2 carbon fibre centre and lb sides.

It got snapped by a rogue set on big day ( that stained my pants and robbed me of confidence for a few months!! ), but after it got fixed, you cannot tell where it was snapped, not just because of the paint job, you cant see any "bumps", and it still rides great.

P.S i should mention the rails are round, but low and pinched, almost the whole way, except for the tail obviously.

P.P.S, hes around 5'9'' and 90kg.

My .02c

I like the 10’ 0" HP Quad long board that Nick Palandrani at Source built for me.  It just does everything that I want it to do.

PEARSON ARROW = JOSH MOHR MODEL

HANDSDOWN

10' Huntington South Swell South Side into the Pier! Handles.

3' Shore Pound no worries.

Depends how you surf?

Hit the lip and do a long floater and cutback like a shortboard = BOB PEARSON

I had the chance to ride a couple very different HP longboards this summer.  Both work great, in different ways.

1.) 9’6" Rusty Ledge runner-esque.  I use the rusty model as example, because its the one I’m most familiar with.  The one I rode was a one off custom for a freind.  The thing was great for catching waves, super fast down the line.  Had a thrust set up.  I would prefer 2+1 I think.  Board was 3" thick.

2.)9’ HP noserider.  Same guy shaped it here locally.  Big fat nose, 19.25" i believe.  Tear drop bottom concave under the nose.  Pin tail, 2+1 set up.  Believe it had double concaves wtih vee in the back.  2.75" thick.

I could get exact dims, but I know that just about every shaper offers models real close to these two.    I have a 10’ infinity rad noserider, and I love that board and all the volume.  I never thought I would want or consider have more than one longboard in my arsenal, but now I definately want to shape my own variation of these two boards.

T.

McTavish makes a nice board but be sure it is not made in Thailand...

Harbour Simms Diamond Tail: 9’0" X 17-1/4" X 22" X 13-1/2" X 2-3/4".  Polyurethane/Polyester.  2 + 1:  3-3/4" sidebites and 7" cutaway center set 12" up.  Fantastic board from 4’ to overhead +.

surfding is right, the Josh Mohr Model is the best hp longboard out there, it is the only board I ride in contests unless it is really small.  Any of Bob Pearsons other high performance shapes are also excellent.

this is probably moot now, anyways,i still prefer a custom made Carl Schaper Bonga Perkins model(9.1),it’s the best IMO,although I enjoyed All the  HP longboards I have ridden.

Ryan Engle shaped Infinity Competitor......Zip...Ding....Boom
