Maybe something like this but a little wider and thicker???

Shape it yourself and if it doesn’t work for you, sell it and use the money to buy materials for another one…

How about conditioning and improving your health?
Board Design: First how about training and diet modification?
http://www.surfline.com/video/webisodes/dsc-shaun-ward_20592
My kid has me set up with a pesonal trainer from DSC.
I’m 52 and 155 @ 5’ 11 1/2" Ok I could use 10 more pounds and I’m working on it.
My core strenght is like it was when I was 19.
Most guys my age have a donut around their waist.
I say shed the donut and improve your quality of life not just your surfing.
That reminds me of being pulled over in Newport Beach one night after dinner:
Officer: Have you been drinking?
Surfding: No Sir, Have you been eating donuts?
Officer: Why do you ask?
Surfding: You eyes look glazed!
I would first start with training then work on board design.
It’s kind of like putting the cart before the horse!
Kind regards,
surfding
Sorry if my advice based on 50yrs surfing and 40yrs shaping has offended you. I thought you wanted to go “shorter WIDER”. I have been working with some younger guys for awhile and while these boards LOOK kinda “boring” I can assure you they ride very differently.

Just trying to show there is more than one way to get there. Outta here ACE
…hello man,
first
you said that you learnt more in this thread than in several years of surfing…
but seems that you do not want to listen or understand the designs involved.
your blind by the designs look.
For ex the mini egg that I posted in previous pages are very high performance oriented
with MORE rocker than HP shortboards in that range, to name some of that design
nuthin retro or like that on it.
I suggested a rocket planshape, that s really looks like a conventional shortboard but with a bit more nose (still pointy) due to change in WP location, etc.
The dims, etc that I posted IS the way to go man
the other dims that I see here will float you the same way but they do not perform the way you want
do not fool you man
Im HP oriented in all my boards
so that 6 8 or less as I said but no more than 22 will be good
put diamond tail to still have a wide tail but short outline when you standing up (smaller board to turn)
Seems that you are like those guys who try find a doctor that say exactly what they are looking for…
yeah, eat lot of chocolate, yeah drink a lot of whisky will be good for the pressure…
Nice shapes Ace. to bad rusty cant demo a couple guessing at 250 he could really move them around.
You should check out Mitsu Matushita http://www.mitsusurf.com/photo.php?cID=2 . He made me a couple of really nice boards. I’m 6’0 and 230lb and he shaped me an ‘Akule’ (6’2" x 21 x 2 7/8") model that works really good in the country and at Tracks. He also shaped me a quad fish (6’3" x 23" x 3") that Mitsu said was to big for me, but it works good in Ewa beach and Town. It’s like having a mini longboard. Super fun board.
Well surfding, with all the respect I have for my elders (I am only 33), it all depends on the percentage of bodyfat. I think that your advice is great, staying healthy is very important to keep us alive and surfing for a very long time. Although body composition is very different for different people and surfboard selection and style of surfing must suit one's body composition.
For example, you are almost 6' and weigh 155. I am 5' 10" (shorter than your height) and have 160 lbs (more than your total weight) of just lean body mass + 60 lbs of fat which adds up to a total weight of 220 lbs. I am strong but with a beer belly. When I was at my best body composition I was 190 lbs with 10% fat. Now I know I should lose some fat but I like to eat pig, drink beer and throw some iron around yet I still do my cardio and if I decide to get back to bodybuilding I am probably going to aim towards 200 lbs with 10% fat.
My point is that for a 6'4" guy maybe 250 lbs isn't that much... with that said, I laugh when I see a big guy trying to surf a 2 1/4" thick performance shorty. My keel fish is 6'0" X 17" X 21 3/4" X 17" X 3" and it floats me really well and I love those high speed cutbacks.
I agree with reverb about people trying to find doctors to tell them what they want to hear. We have to understand that not everybody is open minded about surfboard design so as much good advice that has been given in this thread, people will just ride what they want to ride... on the other hand I believe a "high performance" WCT style shortboard is possible for a big guy if all the design elements are in harmony.
Maybe if we take a 6'9" and hack 3" from the tip and round it up we will have a 6'6" but without the pointy nose...but then again, who wants to ride boards without pointy noses.
By the way ace, your boards look cool!
It's not pointy but this is a 6' 10" x 3" x 22" I made for a big guy

Man do you have a lot of info for your board hope you get that magic board.
Aloha Hannya
The props on the outline from reverb and surfding are much appreciated.I
surf a scaled down model with a 1/4" or more vee in the tail and a
Robin Mair quad setup.Also a mild swallow tail,like an 1 1/2" or
so.There is alot of good info on this thread and alot of positive flow
and some excellent board pics.Don’t be fooled by “look” of the board Ace posted, plenty of performance under the right surfer in good waves.I recently had to sell my quad simmons inspired 5’5 because thats all I would surf,I was becoming close minded and biased towards a certain shape and refused to surf my performance thrusters and modern fishes…
My God, ACE… there are some fun looking boards in those pics!
Warren
was hoping Mahady would post up
always enjoy looking at your boards
this thread is rocking!

hey where did you come up with that? that i was offended? i said thank you but that wasnt what i was looking for! why would i be offended by advice which i myself solicited? am starting to chafe at this treatment by you and your buddies. bra i was realk nice and polite about it. thanked you for your ideas. complimented the board, said it looked fun and a great addition to a quiver if i only i had the cash to burn on multyiple boards. if you mistook this as offense, well i apoligise. but you are mistaken.
Aloha Makakilo, I didn’t shape that board, just found it on the internet. Don’t let peoples opinions bother you. Opinions are like a$$_#£€$, everyone’s got one. That said, there are many very experienced shapers here who are usually very glad to help. Read everything and take only what you believe, try it and if it doesn’t work… well, back to the drawing table.
