“Tears”, Dennis? Wow… Thanks, anyway. Much appreciated.
Hey Jeffrey! I finally got that glue sample in the mail . . . sort of.
Funny thing is that it left pretty distinctly colored smudges from the 'exit wound' down both the front and back of the original envelope.
There's a Bing, Pipeliner hanging in the Quiksilver Shop here in Hanalei. Bobby Coch's had it in his "Kai Kane Shop" years ago. Quik came in and bought Bobby's Shop. The shop was remodeled when Quik bought it and the Pipeliner now hangs once again up on the wall.
I wax'd it up once, "just because", and took it out and paddled it around and got a few waves on it and then took it back to the shop.

I went by the Shop the other day and got a few photo’s of the board hanging in the Quik Shop in Hanalei.
Hey, I just now caught those close-up photos of the offset T-bands running off the rail. Looks like it was done by Jim Phillips, and in my book that's about the highest compliment I can give. Some hard sh#t to pull off!
Is there a ''props'' button for that?
OK enough's enough
this thread needs to be finished
lets see it Balsa,,,,Jeffrey????????????????
I’m just like you, Ken: anxiously waiting for news. But I know Chacal (the guy who is currently glassing it) and I’m sure he will do an outstanding job. He worked for something like two or three years at Joe Roper’s and he really knows what he’s doing.
Maybe Jeffrey will chime in with recent news?
Happy New Year’s Gentlemen!
How’s that for good news? That’s a lovely board posted up there, thanks PPK. And sorry to keep you waiting, Ken.
Well, there was a whole three-stooges routine of volan ordered and not shipped, then shipped to the wrong address, then to my place when no one was home… but I finally got it delivered to Chacal a little before the holidays so the blank is now in very good hands. What’s crazy is that the same thing happened with the model fin for the custom fin order from Michael (Camplus) - took forever and then the wrong fin was delivered. I suppose that its good practice in the patience department!
We’re in the home stretch, I think.
Glassing is underway at long last and looking good! Posting photos might have to wait 'till tomorrow when my head stops spinning from whatever bug I caught today (don’t mean to tease you guys, but if this is the flu it sucks), but she’s in good hands. Tomorrow is filler, leashloop and hotcoat and I’ll try to get the photos for all that up asap.
Howzit Peter, When Bobby sold the shop to Quick did he also give them the Butch Van Artsdalen board, I haven't ben in there since Bobby sold it. AlohaKokua
Damn, you have me addicted to this thread!! I am even having grand visions of shaping my first board (lets hope common sense takes over).
More I need more! Pics, reports, witty comments, anything! Otherwise I have to go back to concentrating on work:(
Before I read this post I hadn't heard of a Bing Pipeliner (no offense), now I am an expert on them lol.
What I have seen to date is just awesome, thanks so much for taking the time to share.
Brenden
Okay, not that my head is no longer spinning, I’ll try to remember how to insert photos!

And a few more… Hats off to Chacal for glassing in the snow yesterday and for wrapping that volan around the pinched rails in the tail/nose. Been a while since I’ve had to do that myself.

Sorry about the order, trying to get this done before heading out this morning! I’ll be up to see the board in a few hours, and will post more shots this evening. Thanks for all the stoke that people are sharing on this project.
Well… It does look like a surfboard, after all…
yes excatly, it has a piece of wood in the middle and foam on the sides. yep, it should be a surfboard!
That piece of wood in the middle is okay… but the ones on the sides are more to my liking.
Hi Brenden,
Just thought I’d let you know that I’m stoked to be making my first trip to Australia. I’ll Be joining Matt and Margaret in the Bing booth at the Noosa festival this March.

Man, this defintly is an outstanding surfboard, having seen it before glassing, its now looks terrific !!! And that logo is a killer, I now feel even prouder to own boards that have been shaped by Balsa.
Jeffrey, I hope that I won't have to wait until the next Shaperoom party to have a look at it !!
