sick!
No big deal… I’ve seen more impressive photos of Kirk Putnam going backside at Malibu 30 years ago that compare favorably. You should see him now.
Epic turn from my vote for one of the top 5 backside surfers of all time and the hands down best backside tuberider ever.
Would love to know a little more about that board and fins.

Agreed! Got the pleasure of surfing really fun Dbah last year with Neal and he was going fairly mental on one of his little stub widow maker set-ups. Guys legend…
so no one is suposed to post here whithout your aproval
you want legends come to aus we got plenty
huie
I certainly would not deny Kirk can carve like that. But, if he’s riding one of the Liddle type hulls I would have to see it to believe it. All the video I have seen of the hulls don’t compare to that carve. Purchase is flying off the top. The hulls seem to struggle at the top. Mike
Nice one Huie
Thing i’ve always liked about his surfing is he never looks like he’s trying hard.
Always flow with speed and yeah easy best backside tube rider I’ve ever seen!
Free surfer and free thinker.
Cheers
Mooneemick
Harry’s fins are working !!!

I’m coming for the waves not the legends, but thanks!
For anyone who’s taken their kids on the rides in the Gold Coast amusement parks the Snapper rocks.com photography thing makes me think about them.
As every surfer goes past fixed camera locations along the wave there photo is taken.
After your surf you drop in to the booth and order your instant digital prints.
“Would you like frangipanis, hibiscus, palm trees, skulls or flames around the border sir?”
Oh no, my brilliant money making scheme is out of the bag.
I wonder if they could have it up and running for the Quik pro?
Post away. For that matter, I’ve seen more impressive pics of Jock Sutherland 35 years ago.

Jeez mate, lighten up a little…it’s alright to get stoked on something once in a while.
NP jnr surfs with a lot of emotion; lot of power; lot of style.
His dad’s been in the trenches carving foam in a little shed since day dot…Neal Jnr is now carrying on the torch.
He’s the real deal , not some trained corporate seal.
You can bet them kids further north are being filmed, photographed and packaged as the next big thing as we speak.
Nothing is pure, except the turn you did last week that was never photographed.
He’s taking a branch of the evolutionary tree to whole new levels.
It’s not a bad thing to do your best.
Steve
steve the fin system is a 2x1 designed by neil purchase & john harris
sorta looks like it might be workin

In the voice of Montgomery burns " harris hey, who’s that firebrand. bring him in smithers".
Post away. For that matter, I've seen more impressive pics of Jock Sutherland 35 years ago.
JS could carve, no question, but not sure if he could still do it …this week, or last week.
Huie, called it carve of the week…not of all time, century, decade ,year…
I could name many carves that would rate highly, as I think many others here could. One mans trash is another mans treasure. This pic is gold, to my beady little eyes.
So this pic of NP Jnr…well I have not seen a carve like that this week (or for months for that matter) and this ain’t just some lucky 1 frame wonder. Check the sequence, geez that is as about as committed and stylish surf move as you can lay eyes on…
Bring on equal or better…it is all music to the eyes to feed dreams that 99% of us love to turn into reality.
Rocky
OK OK… The Aussies can let me up now.
If the truth be known, I scrolled down and matched the first image I saw to the description in the first post. It was only the first shot of the sequence. I didn’t even realize there were more. I took the one shot out of context. As a whole, the sequence is much more impressive.
I have Andrew Kidman’s video that show NP jr getting some amazing backside tubes. He’s a great surfer and I meant nothing against him personally.
This is the photo I saw when I scrolled down. (snagged without permission)
This is an old photo of Kirk ripping it backside at Malibu something like 35(?) years ago. (also snagged without permission)
