COBRA INTERNATIONAL SHUTS DOWN!!!!!

This could get ugly for some …

http://business.transworld.net/2008/12/03/cobra-international-co-ltd-announces-factory-lockout-effective-december-4/

Looks like its just for a week. Not long enough…

Friggin’ Great! Every shaper within the U.S. Should be jumpin’ for joy! Screw 'em. Hd McDing

Yep, looks like a workers strike to me.

Thank god. Or what’s left of it. We were talking about this at Rusty today, and it is perfect timing for all of these kooks to just get the F out!! Leave this… These people are in it for the profit margin which makes me have some what of a gag reflex into my mouth… just support your locals and if and if they aren’t a local, ( and by local I mean U.S.(I know, wide local territory, but hey, we have to stick together!) F’em!!!

Gee, just when I was gonna go offshore and set up…oh well, military coups are like that, yeah they are

dear tritonshaper, It may come as a surprise that America is not the only country on the planet. You sound like the big mouthed septic wanker that everone else in the world despises. Most Americans on this site are aware thet other nationalities are on here. I feel you need to adjust your attitude or go back to shelbyville and marry your cousin. Personally I haven’t had an American made surfboard and don’t want one.

Another positive news item. Ron Jon is quitting their super store in OC. They were one of the first to secretly build boards overseas for their FLA chain. This will offer some real CA boardmakers a little relief.

Sickdog

It’s not the idiots who make them but the idiots who buy them. Don’t worry the void will be filled by another cheap out sourced manufacturer. They are building better idiots these days you know.

well put. if no one wants to buy a poput, big companies would not make them… i

Aussies are our brothers.

Comrades in arms for WWI,WWII, Korean War, Vietnam, Iraq

P…point well taken.

Triton…might have been better to include ALL custom builders that dedicate themselves to serving the surfing public regardless of location.

I don’t know if your comment really qualifies as “The Ugly American”…being that you didn’t mean to slight Oz, but suffice to say mass production isn’t a real turn on for the folks I make boards for.

Is it tragic when someone puts their guts into realizing a dream and creating something dear to them like Cobra to ‘stay near’ what they love? Certainly. But when the formula to make boards got so far away from the surfing individual, you have to be prepared for the response to your decision and direction.

Rusty still surfs.

Some of the older legends don’t because of advanced age or because of individual limitations, but they have decades of design experience.

The reality is when labels starting becoming a pac man of sorts tryig to gobble up and consume as much market share as humanly possible, the response from the smaller concerns naturally want to take the big boy’ down.

It is the same reaction as the wave hog that paddles out to your local break.

Yep… that’s me. A big septic wanker. All right, sh talking on the web is lame… I’m soooo sorry i didn’t mention you ( sarcasticly) Suck it poofsta… I obviously wasn’t leaving you out on purpose… forgetting to mention australia is not the point of this. rag. To bad their dream was making money and not producing bad ass boards for the general … over it.

The next Cobra is the American Penal system.

Plenty of employees

Very cheap labor

less carbon footprint

built by criminals but hey at least they are americans

the world was never flat!

…how in the world USA people self proclaim Americans when America is bigger than USA?

seems like a small world vision

that fogs the reality

due to that and other stuff is that the economy go this way…

Right on…ignorance!

Goes to show you how the British system of education is far superior to what’s being slogged in the states.

North Americans?

South Americans?

Central Americans?

Latin Amercians?

Ugly Americans?

Don’t get me wrong, I is an American from Estados Unitas, er, or whatever…but when wifey and I were looking at the move to NZ after unexpectedly buying a house in Browns Bay (how do you unexpectedly buy a house? Long story)…we looked at what kind of education the kid would get.

We accessed some studies done on education and what the results showed was the United States was down the list after Great Britain, New Zealand, Canada, Austrailia, Finland, and I think Sweden…around 8th. New Zealand was 1st or 2nd in most the categories except in MATH + SCIENCE where Japan and Korea made strong showngs…

The fact of the matter…as is recently evidenced with the recent and ongoing soft global economy, is that one of the first things to get slashed in the states is EDUCATION. So no wonder we are not churning out the brightest kids on the block out of primary and secondary school.

Curiously enough, the higher education institutios remain some of the best…Yale, Harvard, MIT, etc. . So you get the people WHO CAN PAY FOR THEM worldwide.

It has been said that the government in USA is not responsible for providing prosperity to the ‘American’ people…rather, it is a system where the citizens can create a government capable of…

Freedom demands responsiblity…apathy (at least extreme apathy) leads to anarchy or more likely dictatorship. I suppose there are too many ‘Americans’ that don’t know the difference between a democracy and a republic.

Personally, the more I travel, the more I’m in favor of erasing all national boundaries and joining a ‘world citizenship’.

That way when the Martians land, we can make our stand together, or waffle over and welcome them with open arms (LOL)…terrorism, of course, will continue on schedule.

Quote:

America is bigger than USA?

Really good point but I don’t think there was anything intentional to it. Here in the USA, we’re kinda bombarded with a meaning of "American’’ that isn’t as broad as the truth of the word.

Here is the United States (for those of you with chips on their shoulders I won’t call it America,

even though we all know what is ment by America) there are two vastly different school systems.

Not divided by rich versus poor nor white versus black or inner city versus suberbs, but rather by those

who care versus those who don’t.

The American (oops I slipped, sorry Reverb) school system is awash in money spent per pupil. There is little shortage

of dollars, but sadly we have a system of unionized teachers who can’t be fired until they decide to

molest some cute little girl.

Our school system is so corrupted by appathy, it will never be mended.

The ones who get an education are the ones who want an education. The ones who’s parents

make their kids do their homework before they go out to play. The ones who’s parents read with them.

The ones who’s parents check their math homework to make sure Junior gets the concept.

The ones who’s parents NEVER let them watch MTV! The ones who’s heros make a difference in the lives

of those they meet, and don’t throw a rubber ball through a metal ring while talking about their bitches.

The ones who get an education are the ones who’s parents are involved enough to join the PTA, go to

parent teacher conferences, and get involved on a daily basis.

O.K I’m done now, thanks for letting me vent.

Small surf factory no hype!

Working at a pace that waste no time.

F bombs not allowed in our place!

Hate does not let you comunicate.

When kids come to our place it’s time to educate!

There are no bongs to smoke which can make a healthly man croke.

Wheatgrass shots and Vitamin C no french fries here to make you sick!

Everything in house to complete the perfect stick.

Make it here and make it right sell to those who have insight!

Surfding has the formula for industry best practice.

A positive attitude and vibe do make a difference.
