Huie and I have been working on a new HYB type of blank, We have called it CDD, I dont want to give to much away how we make them but from the testing that has been done the blanks are nice to shape by hand or machine with no melting or burning of the foam, must be glassed with Epoxy. They float better than PU blanks but feel really alive even in small waves. We have applied for a Patent on the system from the 1st of this month so we are just starting to show some of my clients so test boards can be made to work out any problems that may show up. These blanks will be ideal for compsand boards and the like. The blank is going to open up heaps of different ideas for strings, deck and bottoms skins, well the ideas just keep coming. So far the boards feel light, strong and with lots of drive. Huie is out of action for a few weeks from having a operation so I would like to hold back a bit so he can be part of this new blanks release to the market. Something complete new for the surfing industry with out bagging anything
Peter you always have something cooking! I hope it’s a sucess and send me one to try out.
Mike I hope it all works out also, Just got to keep thinking and looking at things different not just follow or copy what other people are doing, Todate the boards feel so alive under your feet, float like EPS boards but feel like a new PU board, as more boards get made from CPP blanks we will get more feed back on the blanks and what we can do to improve them again. The way we make these blanks has opened up so many different way to make it with heaps of different combination of materials and all can be done in a single process
not quite ready to let the cat out of the bag pete?
bruce no fun that little trip.

The new 5’11" test board is working nice did 2x 4oz on the deck and 1x 6oz bottom with FCS plugs and deck plug fitted 2.1kg, I feel with more testing I can get the blank down to 2.0kg with stringers fitted inside the blank ready to cut on a machine or hand shape so the board when finished will be 2.0kg also with a strong PU deck and rails, still more testing to do for Huie when I can get some blanks to him. More to come soon Peter Empire Foam
Sorry to be a bit off topic - but I wanted to ask you a question about your normal PU foam. I have shaped a couple of your empire foam blanks and although they were wonderful to shape, the foam is dense so the shaped blank feels heavy before glassing. The foam also feels very hard - dent resistant. Are you glassing these blanks lighter than normal to compensate for the heavier (and stronger?) core?
I got the blanks from Chris John in Charleston, South Carolina - he is trying to start up a US east coast distribution of empire foam. He said there is a super-light formula but he doesn’t have any of that yet.
There you go Mike I will open the door for you no problem. Should have about 40 made in the next couple of weeks as Huie is starting to yell at me to send him some but his Wife has said no work for a few more weeks and she’s the boss. Just been helping a few people on the Goldcoast from the fire that took out the 5 axis machine some weeks back, I have been able to open their file’s and convert to Shape3d or AKU. takes about 1 hour to do the complete process, been good to get the mind thinking again, happy to help
I have arranged to pick him on Thursday from the airport , we will cut some boards that he wants and will show him the CDD blanks, just made a few for Huie when he gets better and will have a couple for HC to take home. Huie supplyied all the EPS for me so we can do more testing on the CDD blanks thanks trevor for helping me. I really need a saleman to help as things are starting to go crazy with the blanks. Anyway I hope HC enjoys his 2 day stay on the Goldie Peter
