what do you guys prefer for noseriding/ Longboarding?
concave
Tailkick
I prefer a blended concave… no edges around the perimeter. My current log has concave, to flat, to rolled vee. Soft rails the whole way, except for an upturned bevel in the nose. Great in small/weak surf.
depends on the wave…
clean, but mushy = no concave, flat bottom, downrail nose.
small and weak = no concave, flat bottom, downrail nose.
choppy, or juicier wave = concave!
I go with what ever surftech/boardworks/china tells me to ride…

Taiwan is the only one that knows what they are doing, get with the program!
anyway, ive heard some prefer flat/concave depending on weight?
i know pigs usualy have flat bottoms and nose ride perfectly fine,
I have a lb with a bevel – not sure if it helps or no. My board does, however, have kick in the tail… My thoughts when looking at noseriding are that it is more important to have tail kick and more of a hull design in the nose. But that is just my thoughts / ideas…
IMO the pig is a perfect example of contrast between nose riders, and what can be nose riden. the pig has a narrow nose and typically no concave, and people ride the nose all day long on them, basically the opposite of the contemporary nose rider.
so to answer your question, maybe. LOL
Howzit da5id, Kick in the tail drives the tail downwards which lifts the nose which makes for a good noserider. I have had 1 LB with concave under the nose and I hated that board, so I put the kick in the tail on a noserider. My personal thing is a flatter tail rocker for speed, so most of my LB's have flat tail rocker and my favorite blan was a 9'5" S Clark for my boards. Aloha,Kokua
i like concave for nose riding
I'm with you Mate, that is a great pic, I'm gonna show one, it's a good shot and I'm not trying anything on, it's not a hoax and I'm not really a longboarder, just a surfer and contrary from popular opinion here, I'm not really a smartarse, I treat people how they treat me, golf day, H. If anyone wants to go back to my 1st post ever and then see what I had to deal with , tell me how you would have done it?
**hey harry **
ya kidding me did you think anything would change?
by the way we nse rode some fair heaps of shit in the early days
** cheers huie

well it was sort of a hoax. I was shaping the McTavish boards at the time and they were using their sponsered guys on 1' waves at Wategos for their ads. I was working really hard, so I could go over to Indo a lot, anyway I said to them, if I can get you some good shots in good waves, can I do my own models, from 7'6" to 8'6", yea , sure. So I contacted Jason Childs when I got home, sorry there, it was like home, tuned Jason and forgot about it. A couple of weeks later, after a big night and 2 sleeping tablets, he rang me around 9 and said get your arse here now, I hadn't met him and I was way dusty, had a beer and paddled out. I just said to him , this is not what I had in mind, more outside peak at Ulus, anyway I told him , don't miss the 1st wave, might get hurt or might break the board, that was the 1st wave, I stopped working for McTavish soon after, Rip Curl owned him then and as no sticker was visable they didn't want it, I think concave works under the nose for nose riding and I have a pretty thick skin, Kokua and Mike Daniels are 2 blokes I think get me a bit, cheers H.

That is a f*ken awesome photo!!
and then the debate becomes, "How much?" do you want that mellow blended concave, or do you want the 3/4 deep concave that looks like somone dipped there finger in cake frosting.
…hey Harris, much respect for that wave riding
that s Surfing
I like concave in the nose. I have different boards with different rails and setups for different conditions. This is a 9’0’ epoxy. The pic with my feet over the nose came out too blurry, so this is what I got. I live in weak, mushy beachbreak land.
Howzit harris , I hope the fact that I don't care for concave under the nose doesn't upset you because in the surfing world we are all different and have different ways of doing things. II had a nice board with concave and it was the fastest board I ever rode, but when you got stepped on the deck over the concave it was like somebody dropped an anchor and the board would just stop. Back in the 50's and 60's nose riding was the big thing but hen progressive LB's came into their own there was so much more you could do and I was more into smackin the lip and other things. Please remember that due to my health I can't even surf these days but I'm not upset that everybody on Sway's can still surf except for acouple others with health issues. Aloha,Kokua
Hey Kokua don't get me wrong, I think your'e a really good guy and said I think you and Mike get me, as in understand me a bit, or at least let me be an idiot when it happens. As far as concaves or not, it doesn't matter, the old guys nose rode crappy old things. I can't undrstand how you must feel, you know I try and I wish you a speedy recovery, we all should just go for a surf cause we can, I'm injured again , trying to get fit, but will soon and think of you when I do, regards H.
