By the way, stop in to Surf Specialties shop when you’re here and say hi to James. He’s the shop owner and the tanker surfer in “Step Into Liquid”
Do you know if he sell any crapped up old boards? i’m trying to buy old boards and repair them so I can add to my quiver and have a variety of boards to test with out spending my entire life savings.
I’ve never seen any used boards in Fulby’s shop. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have some stashed away somewhere. (???)
I looked at the pics you sent me. I like the shape and yes it needs work, but work im willing to perform. I think ill just operate on it with my sander and patch the hell out of it. I think from there im going to glass on 2 sidebite fins so i can ride it as a twinzer or a thruster set up. looks nice, still within reasonable repair range. hope to see you soon so i can get to work on it. BTW… will you be able to go surfing with the G-town crew on the 20-21’st of august. (depending on swell… although swell always seems to come up during the first week of highschool start date)
Only 1 problem… im looking for messed up boards in the $100 range that need alot of repair (within reason). most shops wont sell any board for under $200 no matter how bad it is. maybe i can try and tell him im a swaylocks user and board restorer. Richard… can you ask him if he has any thrashed boards hes thinking of tossing. ill pay up to $100 for thrashed boards that have good potential of being repaired.
Hardcore has the biggest used board selection on the island (as of 2 weeks ago), but I wouldn’t call them cheap. You can check surfhouse http://www.surfhousesurfcam.com/ up in houston for used boards also. Most of the guys I called will only do tradeins on used boards but surfhouse does consignment so you might have a better chance there. Sound waves does a board/trade/swap flea market once a year also.

I guess there’s a chance Fulby would part with one of those classics, but it would take at least $500 to get his attention, and $1000 to get him to even consider it. Probably more.
Ill check them out… maybe before i go surfing w/ u guys, ill do a little scavanger hunt for beaters… im buying tons of beaters to test fin configurations, shape differences, and alot of hydrodynamic stuff… i fully intend on thrashing these boards as part of the scientific method. lol… thats why im trying to buy garbage boards that are fixable
2 and 1/2 weeks out from my trip down, just resurrecting this post to make sure no one missed it who is from g-town or surfside. I was looking through profiles and theres quite a number of people from texas, but their log ons are sporadic and prob. missed this post
Check out the back room at Ohana. You can ask my buddies who work there to show you what they have back there. They usually have quite a few beater boards worthy of a good fix up.
Ive got a longboard in the back of Ohana that Ill cut you a deal for. Its 350 in the shop, but Ill sell it to you for 250. Im friends with formula racer, maybe we can all meet up.
