Wasn't a personal comment at ya Marsh........what the hell! why doesn't some rich bloke take out a patent on the act of surfing itself !....or maybe the human race is doomed to becomes vegetables that sit in chairs and get fed automatically through tubes, like in that old Zager and Evans song !...now that would be a true life of luxury !
love those boards Grumpy !
I have made somthing close to that
you can stand up kneil or belly slide it
size 600mm x 1200mm x 12mm ply wood
add a yoga mat for boyantsy and grip
total cost $25 and build time is 1 1/4 hrs
this is the fastest board I have ridden so much fun
…in the other comment Im refering to the fact that an ultralight PU with 1 or even 2 4oz layers, cannot hold the structure for long time, but still the performance is excellent, not the durability; hence the other builds that can hold far better at the same weight.
Happy halloween . I found the web site for the powered surfboards . wavejet.com lots of vids for your edification. coming in 2012 have fun .

P/U polyester boards are a good environmental option if they are built properly, and built to last......proven fact ..there's plenty of boards from the 60's and 70's still around in mint condition........, and damaged ones that are well worth the effort to restore.......IMO we need to get over this pro-board ultra-light bullshit..simple

Just got back from a trip to geelong. Lots of antique shops there, and being near the water, i saw HEAPS of old boards on the rafters. The ones in best shape were the longboards, followed by the 80's shapes. Even the ones with serious dings looked salvageable ( and were priced accordingly! ). Will post pics in another thread.
