How much is this S.Brom worth

Home shaper…had this Brom since new…need to sell unfortunately…can anyone give me a reasonable price? For its actual value…poly,Clark blank, resin tint ect…thx

What year did you buy it and where?? Picture finally came up. That is nice. With no major dings or repairs; You should be able to get the original selling price or within $100–$200 of that. You would not pull down any outrageous collector price unless you found someone who was absolutely dying to add one to his collection. Last I heard Brom was alive and kick-in’ on Kauai

It’s a great board I ordered from California…to Florida. Mostly hurricane swells ect always perfect conditions. Please give me an idea of its value-again just what it’s worth(NOT looking for collectible $)
Rooster-you still on here? It’s been years since I’ve logged on,still have/use bits of the templates you helped me with! Any numbers appreciated…obo…I ride only my boards now. Even though this thing has 1more gear than mine lol. Thx-Sean

Love Brom,(his skill ect) no dings or repairs ect…it honestly is in perfect condition. If you ever wanted one make an offer-it is a solid performer. Have fun…Sean

If you actually want to sell it, list it on craigslist for $200 or less. You could put it up there for more but will likely never sell. Good luck.

Take 10-20% off what you paid for it, and use that as a starting point if you post it for sale.

Hi O23. I’m still here. That’s a bitchen board. A 6-3? I don’t know what it’s worth. $300? I believe you also sent me a template. I still use it although I usually blend templates. Mike

It’s worth what someone who knows of the Shaper and appreciates his work is willing to pay. I wouldn’t expect anyone on the East Coast to have an inkling of a idea of what that board would be worth. Hence the low ball 's of $200-300. People on the west Coast are familiar with Brom and have a greater appreciation of his work. Not to mention the fact that he shapes a limited number of boards (if any) these days. You’re on the wrong coast. Liwel

Steve lives and shapes in Santa Barbara. U can find used brom fishes out here for 500-600 . He still makes them all the time .

From someone who knows. Thank you Scott.

Yah the east is shite as far as Brom knowledge is concerned…oh well …thx all …anyone want a mint one PMme…have fun…

I’d eat it first…200 or less…it’s not a Kechele…

Brom may not be widely known on the EC, but many folks here know who he is.
Still, the Cal centric types seem to think the world revolves around them and cannot accept that people from other places actually know a thing or two.
His current label is called Surf Engines, and at one time he was shaping for Dyno in Huntington Beach during the early days of the fish. He co-developed the rocket fish design wth Clyde Beatty.

Nice Fish I had one years ago from Steve, what are the Dims on the one and where are you located?
Thanks Jimi

Scott is spot on.

Before Clyde Beatty Jr. moved operations to China - Brom, myself, Lauren & Rennie Yater, Max McDonald, kevin McClelland and Wayne Rich all had our individual respective shaping rooms in a large quonset hut a block down the street from where Beatty glassed - which was the old Yater factory that he took over. In another story, I mentioned that factory was originally built from the ground up as a surfboard factory by the Castagnola family - a group of 8 brothers who came to SB as fisherman, did very well in their industry buying up lots and even blocks of SB property near the beaches. They told Rennie, “if you design a building you want for your shop, we wil build it”. Clyde took it over when Rennie wanted to slow things down because it had many advantages grandfathered in. True story, as told to me by Sonny Castagnola.

Steve’s boards fetch a high price because the stock boards are high quality glass jobs using heavier cloth for durability. New ones with cut lapped cloth, glossed & polished finishes commonly sell anywhere from $750 to $900 depending on who is carrying them.

Start at $600 OBO if it is truly in like new condition. Anything under $400 is ripping yourself off… $200 would be an insult to Steve.

If it’s really clean I think it’s worth 650, to the right guy…who probably lives far away. But if you Need The Money that’s a different ball game. Ask 425 and be as flexible as you are needy. Your mileage may vary, as they say.

Shit, I live around 200 miles north of SB and I doubt many here know who Steve Brom is. Surf communities can get pretty insulated. I admit I’ve never conducted a Steve Brom survey or any bullshite like that… Nice board! Mike

Evo is a dealer for my boards. They have shops in Portland and Seattle… probably will want 20% commission but there are guys all over that prescribe to fish boards and Brom has a long established reputation for them. Maybe give them a call or check other shops in your area?

There is a stock answer for every one of these board value threads. A board is only worth what you can find a person willing to part with the cash and pay for it. You can put any number on anything but if you can’t find the buyer its meaningless. It comes down to how bad the seller wants to sell. Everyone wants to think they’ve got a gem and its worth a mint but if you watch board listings on the web and watch for the listings that actually sell you will see there is a wide price gap between listings that sell and listings that linger. Cheers.

…the board looks pretty nice and in perfect condition (bear in mind that a fish should not be more than 6ft) but is all about location.
If Brom or others were from other part of US, they never ever would have been recognized; of course even more outside the US; so that micro world that SammyA is saying is also very good for the sales or to have a “lineage”. These things are SO important for the Japanese market (I know about it)
So, may be you can try a possible customer in Japan that can pay around 1000 for that board or around those other mentioned prices in California or not so much in other US places; but mainly a great % will treat that board as a retro fish (read: for old guys that cannot surf radical) and they will continue with a …lost or CI.
