Marlee offers a great price!

I’ve used ultra light weight fabric laminates that appear to have much more contrast than the fleece product your peddling. the first thing I look for is the depth of the blacks. And I can see the stringer clear through the black ink. There are many companies offering similar products that work just as well if not better. When it comes down to it the primary factors are 1. print quality, 2. performance of the material (varies with different weights and materials), 3. cost. I’ve used a lot of large laminates and they are not all the same. I’ll just say that there are options out there, and the fleece product here looks light and washed out. If you want to check out another laminate option look at: dystrakted.com or you can google it.

Hey wik

This looks like an attack on a rival company to me.

Now…I realize that my company is small…but based on things like this…I would never do business with a company that conducts themselves in this manner.

We are about to begin production of our boards shortly and have been tossing around the idea of full board laminates.

I was thinking about contacting your company…now I will be looking elsewhere.

Just food for thought.

I’m not attacking anyone here, you don’t need not be defensive. This is a discussion forum (not a marketplace thread) so I can give my opinion. I don’t care how people get better graphics on surfboards, but there are now many companies out there doing it. If it’s fleece, polyester, fiberglass, silk, makes no difference. Each application has it’s strengths and weaknesses. I’ve been at this long enough to identify those differences. I invite you and other shapers to check those options out for yourself. There is plenty of room for this growing technology. I think the fleece product is interesting and the designs are terrific. It boils down to the art at the end of the day and if people want to pay to have it on their board. If anyones looking around feel free to check out these other vendors. Personally, I really like Chad’s work at archival prints. He does large format ‘japanese’ paper prints and his collages are awesome. If you are looking for other companies to print out your large laminates, try these:

Wik, your post really sounded like your bagging the cool guys at freaks of fashion. i was hesitant to put my stuff up on thier thread as i have been doing full board lams for nearly a decade when prints were costing me $300+ per metre. i have all my own setup now so i have reduce my costs dramaticly. (i dont sell to other manufacturers) but the guys at Freaks of Fashion have spent lots of time and money to come up with a good product and a great customer ethic. they never bag any ones quality or artwork and really try to please thier customers. if i were in the market for lams i would also never contact your company after your post. im sure if 2 of us have already felt this way, you have probably blown another 100 swaylockians as customers too!

I think I am being misunderstood and I apologize for that. I was just commenting on the industry and what is available. I mean no disrespect to any laminate printers in this field. My focus is and always has been to get better art onto surfboards regardless of who’s doing it. Thanks for your comments.

Hi Wik,

I don`t know what to respond on your comments. It really makes us sad.

My English is not that good. Be sure, we`re trying to satisfied our clients and try to deliver the product, which is best for them. We are offering different weights of silk. If the client likes to have a very lightweight one, its a bit more transparent. If he likes a opaque one, we can offer these, too. We also think that the prices we offer our silks are ok. The cost production here in germany are very high.

I think, the partners we work with speakes for themself! (http://www.freaksoffashion.com/partner/)

We also offer our different silks to test in advance and the shaper can check which one is best for thier use.

To judge us by only seeing the pics is not a good move.

BRah - how many times do I gotta ask for a sample to get one?

@chrisupp: just sended a pm. We sended the samples weeks ago…

There`s another treat here on swylocks running by wouter, who use one of our silks and grafic onto board:
