Is it too soon to start thinking about Swayloholix 2011???

I’m glad you guys had sun and fun surf  . Will try again for next year .Thanks for all the pics .

Hahaha, lovin’ those pics Jeff! =D

These things are always too short!

Next year I’m gonna take a week off and do the Surf4fins thing.

You missed it and were missed Lee. Next year…

I’ve got a little GoPro video for you Chip…

I’ll have to go through it and trim it down first tho.

Where do I start?

First off, the surf on monday and sunday afternoon was real fun again.   Sunday evening was clean and family fun for all five of us in the water.   And monday morning was pure glass and three feet with three of us out there.  So the moral of the story is to get to Swaylocks early and to stay late.

Me and my crew all had a great time.   We had a really nice time surfing and hooting until both our arms and throats were sore.   Talking story around the many camp fires and doing show and tell with head lamps only was a hoot too.   Now our goal for next year is to make sure that the camp hosts can have as much fun as we did.

I dont have any pictures for your photo hounds but I do have some statistics.

Number of boards I surfed: 12

Number of Friends that surfed that I brought along ( ( * means they rode their self shaped boards)with some forgotten); 22

Katie , Bill, evan, Chase*, Jenna*, Brian*, Kaia*, Dave, Matt, Alex*, Brad*, Aaron*, G, Abby, Jenni, Deyess, Dave, Grant*,  Me, Mike, Chris*, phil

Number of Spectators we brought to help recycle aluminum and carry boards: 14

rex, jeff, jake, shannon, brook, robin, denise, Kris, Brook, Jackie, Kyle, Dave, Scott, Eric,

Thus the total number of hoodlums was around 36.   And trust me what we lacked in numbers we made up in heart.   I want to thank everyone that showed up and put the fire under the butts of all those that did not.   Adios, Darren

I had a blast at the campout. Most rideable waves and great weather yet for me. It was all time good people and fun.

The kids turned into tree people and built a rope and bag system to bring lunch up into the tree.

We missed you James.

This is what the blank you gave me ended up looking like. Thanks!!- works good too.

I got your White boardbag through the grapevine so give me a call.

This was a great weekend.  So much fun.

Here’s the wave of the trip.  He just turned five and is riding a 6’ 8" redwood HWS.

BEST surfer out there!

Swied that picture looks like it sums up the trip !

Did anyone mention that all boards were built using genuine, high quality, 3M products?  Heh heh heh… Thanks for all the stuff, Resin.  I have enough genuine 3M tape to last me 3 years or more.  I’ll share it.  Thanks to Sting  Ray for the fins and Keith for the soft sand pad. Thanks to Mark for cooking breakfast and dinner, too.   Thanks to everyone for a great time and keepin the Sways stoke alive!  Most of all, thanks to Darren and the kids for the stoke and inspiration!  Can’t wait for next year.  A bunch of givers. Mike

Hi Ben -

I took a camera but didn't take a single photo.

I can tell you that some of the group did some incredible surfing.  I heard some of the guys say they had ridden as many as 15 boards in a day.

I watched Evan change from riding a broken SoftTop longboard- finless (perfect trim and 360s thrown in on overhead waves) to my 11' footer without missing a beat... all leashless, of course.  I don't think I saw him fall once on anything and he rode everything.  It reminded me of the Derek Hynd scene in 'Litmus' with the new finless stuff mixed in.

He wasn't the only one ripping.  Several of the girls in the group put many of us older guys to shame.

I've been to every campout since the beginning and the combination of weather/surf for this one was the best yet.

 nooooooooooooooooooooooo

you guys are just teasing us non cali guys, aren't you ? [you really have 1000 photos of your breaks , but don't want 'foreigners' like me surfing them , eh?]

and to think ...

I WAS going to send a big bag of 'chipfins' for you all to try out at the annual sways camp time .....

If you guys can set this up for Sept. 21-23, 2012. I’ll be there, and maybe I’ll drag Oneula out there too. Next year my daughter will be a senior at Stanford, so it will be my last chance to kill 2 birds with one stone.

Looks like it was warm enough for this Hawaiian to enjoy.

No need for booties this year! =D
