Artz— check your PM.
Herb, is that you holding the fish?
It’s Mark Perry, not me Phebus …for those of you who know of him…MP is a very gifted surfer…and knows his boards.
I don’t have a pic of that board’s bottom ,sorry, but here’s what it looks like in a gun-version…samefin set-up…just a bit narrower.
This is a pic of me in a group shot ,I’m in the forefront…behind me is Jeff Ho,Jim OMahoney,Craig Stecyx,Steve Olson…
The other pic below it… is with Woody Woodward.
As I get closer to 60, I need more foam to catch waves. This one is just about right. I rode it in solid overhead yesterday and it held pretty well. If I step back and put my back foot over the fins, it will turn on a dime, but I can put my back foot up a bit and it has quite a bit of drive.
I think there’s so much more to learn about short boards. I’m amazed at the younger guys with those tiny Tomo boards. You really need to be able to paddle hard to catch waves, but they seem to surf well.
I rode my 7’ single fin today with the waves going down a bit. Much easier to get waves, but the short wide boards rip.
You and me both Sharkcountry,
All the best
Thought that was Mark. Just didn’t know if you and Mark were one and the same. Screen names and real names aren’t always the same.
5-10 fishie shape. More of the Rocket Fish variety than the original fish shape. Added a bit of thin, high density foam in the butt-crack. The idea being to increase surface area without adding any appreciable float. Made the fins out of the same foam. Got on a bit of a spin art kick. So did the deck and fins spinning them on my sander. It’s fun to do, but a bit of a rush 'cause if the grinder falls over, there’s gong to be some catastrophic foam removal! Board works great, super drivey and great hold on turns with that nice twinfin fish looseness.
Thanks for posting that Photo. Looks like a fun setup I have been thinking of a big boy fish .
