Hey Mikey, I think I'm hearing you, thing is even now as an old bastard, it only takes me abt an hour and a half,[ probably less] little bit longer for a standard long board, I have handshaped a MacTavish 9' in 52 minutes, never again. So by the time I go to the guy to cut the blank and get in the line, it works out much better just to shape it, maybe I would have waited for my rocker to be glued to hand shape, so that evens out if I shaped it. I would take a skim off the deck, the guys are using big blanks to make little boards and cutting right into the middle. We all know that makes a weak board. Unless you are doing heaps of boards the same shape or cant shape, I cant see the benefit. Too many boards being made. Would have been better to teach a few young guys how I got fast and accurate, cheers H.
