Thank you, I had switched computers and my PDF version of Lord's book had gone with the old one.
doc...
Thats cool doc,
I have seen the book discussed here,
and mention of where 2nd hand copies might be sourced,
and of its relevance to Simmons boards but I couldnt track down an online copy.
I store a copy of online pages by sending the link to myself in an email,
and highlight the email.
Or print it out in full and file it,
knowing full well that I'll never find it again in the confusion I call home.
Well, I think that's the most recent edition of it...and for most surf-related purposes I don't believe the art has changed a whole lot.
Uhmmm- I'd have to say that you can't approach planing hull design without it. At least on more than a handwaving level. The math is there, the concepts are there, there's lots of examples.... and it's easier than going through, say, the whole Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering list here: http://web.mit.edu/catalog/degre.engin.ch2oe.html
many available via http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/Mechanical-Engineering/index.htm
For what it's worth, Simmons referred to it and he wasn't the only one. Simmons...well, lots of people think Simmons was this home-grown folksy eccentric type, coming out of nowhere with just an innate ability to do stuff. And actually, he trained at Caltech, was something of a math prodigy, and was using applied engineering and tank testing ...which, it seems, hasn't been done much since.
Hope that's of use
doc...
Thanks for that Doc, I didnt know that about Simmons and I'll follow those links.
Most appreciated.
Awesome, now I don’t have to steal this from the public library…
(only kidding…)
De nada, man. http://www.legendarysurfers.com/surf/legends/ls15.shtml kinda gives the full read on Simmons...
best regards
doc...
Oh yeah. I member that.
Any chance that a .pdf or downloadable format of the Lindsay Lord book is still available out there somewhere?
Hint: why bother, if you can’t read or click on links in this thread the pdf file wont help you.
Because, Otis, (despite your hint, if you'd tried lately you'd know) all the links provide the following message, which as you have not heard, I shall now proceed to relate (Kipling)...
The requested URL /resources/LordBookAllPieces.zip was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Thank you Honolulu, I only posted the question, because that is exactly what I encountered. And, Yes, I actually can read, pretty much a practicing Mechanical Engineer for over 40 years. For what it’s worth.
Jake
I’m still practicing too. 35 years.
But I’m bumping this to see if there is a valid link anywhere out there. thanks in advance.
so… anyone have another link?
that works?
Perhaps there are no new links because of copyright issues?
I've been looking up similar texts off and on for years. Limited runs that won't be reprinted but God help you if you post them up.
… if you post them up?
Just curious. If a link were posted, what’s the worst that could happen?

OOPS ! If correct, and I believe it is, be careful fellas.
I've posted private copied documents secure behind a login for declared personal use with no problems. On the other hand documentation copied and publicly posted without express permission of the author and/or the rights holder that comes to light leaves you exposed to copyright violation penalties
I'm sure the book is good, but don't you think a lot has been learned since 1963? It is 2011 after all, computer age, etc, etc...
Maybe there is nothing more to learn?
