I can also weld. Torch and arc. I can also fix your truck and build motorcycles.

Right now with the economy being so bad, most shops are slow or hurting for business. A lot of guys are working at more than one shop in order to make enough $$ to support themselves and their families. I have a friend who sprays for 2 shops and glosses at another. Last time I spoke to him, he was considering taking on another.

Howzit DS, Yes you are right about knowing how and actually doing it, probably should have mentioned that but my brain is a little biton the fritz from the move. Funny thing is the reason I was taken on as an appretice was I had a natural ability for taping off blanks by eye. I too am able to do it all but I just don't card for foamdustso I did as little shaping as I could. Aloha,Kokua
I hope it all works out for you out in AZ.
When you go out to California please stop by when you go by Russels!
Oh boy Huie’s here. I always think of some character from “Mad Max” when
Huie posts…and that’s a compliment!

Welding ain't my bag............ science math and physics yes.
Uh, kiteboarder guy, I seem to recall my team rider Brett Lickle doing the first barrel roll at Hookipa? Then the crew all started loops and double loops, forward and backward ...maybe kiteboard guys are doing loops and barrel rolls, but I've never seen it to date...... enlighten me how windsurfing, surfsailing Jaws and other spots pales to kiteboarding.
As fas as the design stuff you're persuing, I encourage that, because over the years I've seen a lot of garbage getting towed around with kites attached to them.
We get plenty of wind at Jalama and other places if you know the weather and can read the signs....but yes, as I said b4, kb'rs power up in less blow.
…Hello Surfding, left rail top is different than right one…sharp eye is my name
seems that the machine is not so precise…
looking good anyway

I knew it would be Reverb to pick up the most minor flaw in any piece of work however beautiful. HaHa.
I thought the board was tilted also.
But as SD has said in the past, I have only shaped a couple of thousand surfboards so maybe I'm not qualified to pass judgement.
Just yanking ya chain Reverb. No malice intended.

…is not in the measurements is in the shape of the rail (on top); you can have same meas but dif shapes.
but may be is like Entity say about the angle
haaa’ ok darren you & reverb post the next one from all angles see if ya can pull it off?
ding there bieng harsh on you? what screen are you using
mybe go coarser ** bit square on l/h side **
haaaa’’ ya can only ride one side of the board at a time
nothing wrong with your work
let that be lesson one to the young buck here
no matter how hard you try someones going to pull you down or try to.
cheers huie

I think you misunderstood me Huie. It was just a wee jab at Reverbs comment. I would never pick anyones works. As I'm sure you know the camera and shadows do funny things to surfboards. Even the bend in the stringer near the nose is most likely an illusion.
I do glassing for a shaper down the coast who is very critical of his work and I always say to him I dont pick flaws in peoples shapes (unless it is helpful and its something they may have missed or forgotten) because I know for sure mine aren't perfect.
Cheers

Hey Dead.
I’ve got nothing against surfing in any way, I can’t even do it, without a kite, and not as good at that as I’d like even…
You say you’ve never seen back rolls, fronts, and many other tricks in the surf , then you need to just spend a half an hour watching U tube video to really see waht some of the guys are doing…
I’m really lousy at uploading links… But, punch in searches like : '“Top Hat kitesurfing” ," Ben Wilson kitesurfing" , “Strapless Kitesurfing”, Big wave kiteboarding or kitesurfing" , " Kiteboarding Mavericks" , Jesse Richman 22 second kite jump… “Felix Pevic kite surfing” and finally … Best kiteboarding tricks", you’ll really like the one entitled : " Best kite trick ever!!! Leander Vyvey, Jesus Walk"…"))
You’ll enjoy watching, and perhaps better understand my point… Bearing in mind this sport is in it’s infantcy, and has not nearly reached it’s full potential…
I’m building 2 slightly different sized Twinzer kite surfboards, just because the concept “interests” me…
Even the pro manufacturers are not building these style of boards as far as I know… Perhaps the twinzer design will lend it’self well to kitesurfboards, I think so and I’m betting on it…
I’m also building a “kite copy” of a 5’ Cole “trunk board” just for shits and giggles, and personal use only… I would not sell a copy board btw…I have rules…
This is my last post on this thread , as the stuff you and I are talking about here has nothing to do with the original post, we can start a kite surfing thread on the general board some time in the future if anyone’s interested…

To EVERYONE
A perfectly symmetrical bad design is a perfect bad design.
I don't shape perfectly symmetrical, nor even care if my designs are within .00000001",
I shape ideas.
What matters to me is people love the ride and want more.
Peace.
