Marko Foam teams with Biolas, Invents Parabolics

Oh boy. Our worries are over. Now we can make some real progress with the newest innovation. Marko and Biolas have invented the parabolic blank. From the FoamEZ web site:

“The newest innovation in blank design! Marko teamed up with world class shaper Matt Biolas to develop parabolic rocker design. Barrowing technology from the ski and snowboard industry to create the most exciting thing in salt water. Marko now offers LOST outlines in blank sizes from 5’8” to 6’8". The 6’0" Parabolic blank is made to make boards from 5’11" to 6’1". "

Well actually, they “barrowed” [sic] the technology. But not from Berger or Loehr.

I may borrow some technology from the boat industry and develop fins. When you think about it, the possibilities are just about endless.

Cool!

I can’t wait to invent the leash and make some real money!

Maybe I’ll invent the internal combustion engine while I’m at it…

KOOK!!!

Does anyone have dibs on wax yet?

LOST IS GAY

i invented fiberglass last night, it should be pretty fun to use…

Have a guess what I think of that…

Josh

yeah surfercross

lost is a gay word

Cool I want one of those blanks.

Thats the funniest part of all, try and get one in Hawaii. After baking in a Matson container for 9 days at 100-140+ degrees the magic of 2 stringers on the rail become even more special.

I’ll place a special request for it to be shipped over in a refrigerated container along with my caviar.

LOL!

Just have them drop the container off at your house. You can keep it plugged in and have a load of prepreg shipped with the boards. You’d have an all in one storage, shaping, glassing room.

Maybe you could get Lost to sponser you with some of their energy drink to go with all that caviar.

ROFL!!!

I’s got one thing to say about dem dar parabananas!

I’m still waiting on royalties for inventing surfboards…

what’s a parabolic? I was just getting used to my Lost carbon fiber hyper-combat alloy chassis surf vehicle…in black of course.

Can I get this board in black too?! I hope so, black is way cool. And all my buddies have black boards too, I don’t want to be the kook with the white one…god forbid.

Do you think they’ll cost less than $1,300. I ask because my mom said that I can only spend $1,000 of less for a board. That way I’ll have enough money left over to buy a sick stomp and leash. I think the skull stomp is mental, and a smoking deal at $150.00. I’ll get both in black/Grey.

The joke in all of this is that I own a few boards made out of marko blanks. Some have parabolic stringers and some don’t. Flex wise, I can’t tell the difference.

The joke is on me?

Crap.

I can’t get my shorts [or baggies] in a knot over someones marketing techniques. All I know is that last week I saw my first Marko foam parabolic stringer board [Cosmic Bull surfboards, shaped by Tom Eadon of old Rise surfboards fame] and it was one of the nicest boards I have seen all summer. I am looking to get a blank for myself. The Marko foam is a pleasure to shape.

And all this time I thought it was an Al Gore invention…

a smart businessman with a substantial marketshare

when faced with a startup that possesses new technology that offers some advantage

will immediately alter his technology and claim it offers the same advantage

and beat the new technology to market.

This works nearly 100% of the time. The only way the startup can win is if it has enough capital to establish a comparable marketshare, or offers a palpable benefit over the established products - either in price or performance.

You may have noticed Surftech alter its marketing last year as well to tout the benefits of its parabolic rail stringers.

This is businessmen doing what businessmen do.

However, in Biolas case, I know he personally went and did a bunch of blank R&D to get the tech wired for his products, and there’s definite value in the consumer in that.

If the technology is not IP protected, and someone rips it off, it should be viewed as a compliment.

I didn’t invent water, but I’ve decided to claim it. All of it. I’m willing to share though, as long as you guys quit peeing in it. You know who you are.
