OK, had a moment of insight before my beer run.
This is how we can have the “good” Roy back:
Roy can return BUT every time he argues about anything but design (i.e. speed, grammar, spelling, way of life) then EVERY Swaylocker will go out and pollute our Mother Earth.
Yeah, it’s absurd, but it could work.
Every day Roy contributes politely we all pick up trash on the beach, re-use something plastic, or reduce consumption.
How about it Dragon? What say ye Roy?
Well, I guess I’ll throw in here, too. I don’t believe in censorship, in general, unless were talking about damaging language(profanity in front of children). Not much profanity on this site. Roy’s impulse to defend his ideas and opinions so vehemently struck me as a fundamentally insecure man. So what? I have several friends that fall under that category. Roy also brought interesting boards and ideas to the forum that were well “Outside the Box”(an overused expression as any.). He also has quite a good sense of humor and a quick wit. I guess I’m fundamentally a self righteous little SOB because I really don’t care if someone does not like me, my boards, or my ideas(outside of family and a couple of real friends). Do you care? Whats the big deal?
From another shade of this conversation. I am proud to be an American and think everyone should be proud of their countries, cultures, etc. I really do not care whether Europeans think Americans(USA) have “culture.” I tend to think we may have more culture than anyone since we are made of so many different cultures. I think I’ll have an Irish beer with my Mexican food tonight while I listen to Bob Marley and the Wailers. mike
as swaylocks is a computer based communication system it might be possible to let the computer solve the problem.How about creating a trash bin in the “my profile” folder where I can put the members whose post I do not like to read? Thus, logged in, those posts are blacked out. I would not know about them, the computer ignores them for me, happy days… bet different people have different names in their bins and bet some would come back as guests and read those posts anyway…
I have not read his post. I myself want to see it all and if it offends me I won’t look. To take away someones oppinion seens wrong whether its right,wrong or even twisted. Its like big brother telling us what is good for us.

its a shame roy had to cop the spanking , but its also a reminder to the rest of us , to be on our best behaviour , and to disagree respectfully ,
its not really censcorship , its more about common courtesy…
as harsh as it seems , it sends a clear message that swaylocks really is a kool place , and give it the respect it deserves…
how can we plane on a higher level and soar with albatrosses when were forced to rake through the dirt with a flightless bird…

Well I have just been reading this long conversation and I might not be the one to talk because I’m not one of the Enthusiast or even ever talked to Roy. But I have been made fun of for questions I have asked before, like about the channel islands, and he never was banned. Also from what I remember, there was one post from roy saying he got up to 20 or something mph on waves, and everyone just dismissed it and made fun of him for thinking that, and saying that he doesn’t know how to calculate speed using videos. Wans’t this forum made to help and discuss techniques on building surfboard?

If you are serious:
I would expect one of Roys’ 5 sons
PipEye,PepEye,PoopEye, PupEye or PapEye to chime in on this.
Roy is not a public person like a politician and to make money off of his image is
illegal. Then you further compound the issue by using his name with his image…not good, unless
you want to give Roy some money.
Whatever else could be said about Roy…he could profitably use a portion of that money.
Or you/Roy may view it as part of his time/sentencing in the penalty box??

Here’s an analogy to all of the Roy supporters…
Prentend you’re at a party and there are discernable small groups of people having interesting conversation…the intelligent iconoclastic egomaniac visits a group and begins his arrogant banter…“my way is better…I cannot learn anything from you…blah blah blah…yap yap yap”. When the capables in the small audience start to drop out, the megalomaniac goes to the next group of people and repeats. He does this just for the shear joy it gives him, even though it makes everyone else scream with frustration and severe annoyance. How the others feel doesn’t matter, as long as everyone around him knows he is better than all. With all his flaws, he still has a small dedicated fan base…just like David Koresh did.
You would definitely remember him, but you would not want to invite him to your own party.
Swaylocks is the party and its owners have every right to decide who’s invited.
