Thanks for the props but what really ruled the fish frye was the vibe of the people on the beach, the love of the surfboard as art, toy, handicraft, political statement, time capsules and glimpses into the future. It was a really good day. I just wish our friend Ben Shipman could have been there. He had to miss it due to health problems. I hope if you got the chance you signed the card for him. Any how thanks for the stoke to everyone that was there.

The FishFry was a blast. Met sooo many people. Put faces to screen-names and talked with friends old and new pretty much the whole day. Surfboards everywhere! I’ve got a ton of pics but it’ll have to wait a day. [insert: something witty here] Need to sleep but have to work.

Chip in San Diego, there are whole tribes of kids who’ve dropped out of school and live in the washout caves. They ride everything from 1 foot mush to double over winter swells on fish that are strickly half their height. You should see the boards the little ones sport, they look like twin keeled handboards.
When they paddle out (always as a group) the Trifin guys move north and the longboarders move south. Everyone seems to have a better time. Anyone on anything ‘retro’ is tollerated as long as you move slowly and your gloss job isn’t too shiney. You won’t see them in the fish fry pictures, cause they were in the internet tent, furiously clicking google ads. The boards were all a little big and bright for them anyway.
Sorry I’m so late posting these. That FishFrye motivated to start shaping again. Spent all day yesterday working on 6’6" modified hull. I’ll post those tomorrow. I have about 40 shots of the FF but I’ll just post a few here and put the others on a blog later today.

Rob- That was me talking to you, Maggie and Rhino about the EPS fun!
Had a great time at the Frye. Incredible boards and alot of friendly people. 
Even got caught by a surprise set that drilled me into the sand. I’m still picking sandcrabs out of my ears.
Surprise visits by Noah Shimbokura, Rob Machado, Daniel Thompson, Mike Hynson…Jeff Clark was showing his Flying Fish models and willing to talk to anyone.
The Firewire board was very interesting, but much smaller than I expected.
I can’t believe I was staring at Manny’s boards and didn’t even realize it was him! That swirled logo looked so familiar…
Hated that I had to leave early. Next year we’ll bring our trailer and spend the weekend!
I remember that conversation, it went something like…
You: “My wife is over the EPS”
Me: “HUH?”
You: “The dog goes from the garage and into the house, covered in static clingy styrofoam balls.”
Me: “DOH!”
