more modified fins...

It will break easily…If he does a hard bottom turn or cut back I think it will be gone for sure. Cool Idea though.

…i’d be SO stoked to get to do a hard bottom turn !!

[at the moment i would be stoked to be pain free enough to be able to paddle a board …]

pascal [‘popeye’ , here] might have to be my crash test dummy [he’s smart , though , so he may say "NO WAAAY !! "] for my various excursions on the thin line …

Ben, whats the cuttlefin good for??, i mean how is it supposed to affect the ride??. Im thinking of making some more superchargers for my fish, and from a 5’’ panel ( 1 metre, yes im tight!! ) i could make 2 different sets, and im thinking of trying a small set of cuttlefins just for something different.

Cheers.

P.S how are you injured??

the twin fins off my len dibben twinny , soon to be fcs tabbed …

hemp and normal , one of a few ‘quad’ setups …

Hey Chip-thing

Nice paisley fin!

Give us some pointers on how you tab these things mate, have you got some jig or mould, and how do you make the tabs strong enough that they don’t just snap off.

I’m laying up some balsa and mahogany panels for my next fins, and might tab em if I decide to stick plugs in the board.

…the “nectarines” , camouflaged … hi jase ! …ummmm … i foil the fins first , then cut out the tabs with a jigsaw with a fibreglass cutting blade . then , slowly and carefully , take down the thickness of the tabs with a file , until they fit snug the tricky part i find , is where the base of the fins meet the tab …anyone have any good hints on that , please ? [i found a dremel , a belt sander , and a file can all leave 'flat spaces ’ in the base of the fin , so that the foil from base to tip is not flowing … care is needed , for sure ] cheers jase and good luck ! ben

edit…

hi again jase !!

you might like to

  1. use epoxy to glass them

  2. build up [thin wood core ] tabs with HEAPS of layers of 4 or 6 oz cloth [epoxy resin] , to ensure adequate tab strength

…hopefully , in the worse case scenario, the TABS snap, rather than the plugs being pulled out …

again ,

let us know [take photos , eh , matey?] how you go with it

 cheers
