Surfing a forum is a purely subjective experience, so if the young surfer/shaper just isn’t into Sway’s, so be it. And there is no denying there seems to be more ‘raised voices’ saturating the forum, usually coming from the same sources.

Some of you around here act as if arguing is a bad thing; usually, but not always, its the guys who are wrong who get the most upset. Swaylocks is full of wannabes, who think they know because they found it on the internet. Small egos can’t handle any criticism and of course, those are the same people who want to be in charge- guru status. Honestly this place is a boor without a heated discussion, which adds not only knowledge, but intensity and passion which seems to be lacking at times.
Some are so self-important they miss the lesson completely. I invite criticism, and argument because it can show where one’s weaknesses are. People talk of internet bullies, but what bothers me are the internet sissies.

I feel that Im in a position to say that because I take the time to respond to many of the questions that nobody answers to the rookies.
Im not bored to answer those questions.
I see that there are guys here that think that the only members that contribute are the ones that put "new" designs or approaches, but the heart of this forum is try to maintain the basis (the constructive-build- part/side) of this craft alive and provide new generations with right technique approaches.
Also, for the guy in previous page saying that "all are in the archives" well, NOT all are there, plus, it s very difficult to locate many things there.

Thanks there are many Aussies here; have thicker skin than most so you can vibrate and be passionate like Ghettorat say.
Here is a very particular forum; we almost do not need moderators actions..I've been here from almost the beginning, since 2000 or so, and never see any problem at all, except for the fired up to Roy, the guy that makes those big wooden boards (but the guy had some issues...)
Also the template (the design platform of the forum) is better than most forums, which are plagued with too much frames, buttons, etc.
The members are good too; most know how to not annoy with those "smiley" faces or like that.
It s allowed to put videos, etc but members only put a very small %, that they think are the right ones, and that s is very good, in my opinion.
May be because its an old forum, not so many on the internet in those times so possibly attracted the right persons? with the right path and maybe same type of education (social and intellectual)?

Who really gives a damn about some 20-something guy that has been shaping for 7 years? Would that kid know anything more about shaping/glassing if he was a daily regular or not? Ghetto is right, this art/business/lifesyle isn’t for the thin-skinned. Tell 'em to go back to Grandma’s garage. That’s a safe place and she’ll be there when you screw something up and throw a tantrum or get hurt.
You can get a bunch of young guys , any age you like , and there will always be one who makes less noise , and doesn’t say too much…but he listens and learns and remembers very well…you only have to tell him once most of the time , and if he forgets something he’s quite comfortable asking the right question so he doesn’t forget again. I can state this as a fact , because I was a young guy once , and sometimes I talked more than I listened and learned.

I have a system that works. It is based on ideas and methods I learned from Swaylocks.com....it's not right or wrong...
...and one of my nicknames is Thin Skin Ray.....I earned it the hard way. I don't always agree with Pete or Ghetto but these guys have helped me out big time! Exchange of ideas is not a bunch of guys arguing.
I like Huie...we don't see eye to eye but I love the boards Huie builds......
