[now you can see 'Hicksy’s logo carved on the inside of the keel , Luke !]
"four !! " …
fishy ‘fabricked’ fish fins …
ah…so THAT’S how you do those cool resin swirls , Ray … using a FAN !!!
Now , why didn’t I think of that before ?!
ben
p.s. - I think your ‘fishtail’ grew a ‘roundtail’ , by the way !! […does that make it a “tadpole” ??]
" 2 + 1" / "widowmaker " setup …
chip do you ever have any problems with your grub screws with your fcs plugs wearing out?
hi Deathfrog !
yes , I buy new sets of screws every year …with 10 plugs , that’s 30 grub screws I’ve purchased … over three years . They cost me about $1.20 each. (I’ve spent more on wax.)
cheers
ben
how do the small side fins and big back fin setup feel ? I’ve never ridden something like that
Cecil
Cec , it goes really well , I really enjoy it . The hold of a single fin and thruster rail fins combined !! [It feels a little over-finned with the slightly bigger ‘shark’ side fins. Fun though …
ben
hey chip,
did you ride it with this set up? the four fin, all large? the overlap looks like a twinzer, only big leading fin. how was it?
thanks
hiya native !
…it felt very drivey , positive through turns .
The waves were probably a bit small for so much tail weight though [they are all solid fibreglass fins]
I think this would be a LOT of fun in good , clean head-high surf …
…the experimenting continues …

mate what wouldnt be???[/]
Chip,
How far apart are the tips and how deep is the butt crack(on your board)? The fins look really far forward on the photo. How far up from the tips is the rear edge of the rear fins? Mike
hi Mike , thanks for asking !
"How far apart are the tips "
9"
'and how deep is the butt crack(on your board)? "
3"
"The fins look really far forward on the photo.
How far up from the tips [of the tail] is the rear [base] edge of the rear fins ? "
10",
and there is 1/2 to 3/4" cant with these fins .
…with my bigger twinnies , there is nearly two inches of cant , so the TIPS of the fins end up being 8" up from the tip of the swallow / fish tail . Plus , I can always whack in a 3x3" trailer fin, if I want .
ben
Got it, Ben. Mike
thanks chip,
have made a classic outline fish, with modern doodads, and havent decided on fin set up yet, so am following your lead…
lots of boxes, lots of choices to fine tune.
