new board too much V...?

boogie boarder or not, probably gets more water time than you, and has less “stories” to tell about it.

Cheers LeeV, for the only constructive reply.

thanks mate.

those fishes are 18months old or more douche bag . lol

your such an innovator though, bringing things like “the one and only jet fish” to the table hahaha you got the “one and only” bit correct.

Go surf it and get off your computer ffs…

the pin tailis 18 1/2

im just a young cub,so it floats me fine mate hahaha

Your boards sink under the water being soo narrow and thin! Wth you try n to float a 60 lb child? g night master shaper! Or master of bation…lol. you little d***head!

Back to the Vee issue, You are right about what was done in the past.  I still have a board in my Garage from the 80’s that has vee panels from nose to tail,  Glen Kennedy still today puts Vee panels from about center out to the tail.  So it is/ was an established design.

It doesn’t feel like it is skimming above water as much because it isn’t.  It is displacing water  more than it would if it were a more modern contour.  But that isn’t to say it is a bad design, just different.  It will probably feel like it is riding a few inches longer than it is.  Might be a good board for less than glassy days.  It might hold a carve where the conditions would have other boards sliding around.

ok, cubby!:o)

ok, cubby!:o)

I think he put vee in the 24" zone…it’s makin his tail skid out…read! Well, he say’s he forgot his concave -so da guy says his v sucks…he gotta blame himself for his thing that don’t work…

hey finsout

just strip the glass off that area that has the V, re-shape and re-glass it.

won’t take you long, better than selling it off to someone

don’t feed the trolls

Cheers bra, I will do exactly that.

thanks again!

Thanks, yeah its not sliding out, far from, when i said it drifts in the tail, i mean when im trimming it feels as though i can feel the turbulance around the back fin, which i guess is because there is little to no lift in the tail and im feeling everything thats happening under my back foot. It did feel good to do roundhouses on my forehand and drove off the bottom great on my backhand, with more pressure on my front foot it seems to get going, i definitely think you need to be right in the pocket for it to work idealy .

Shapa’s killing this forum.  Someone ban the little troll.

Going back to the original post, I don’t think this is an issue of V.  I’d be looking at fin placement.  Some of the best boards I’ve ever ridden had more V than you are describing.

The beat to hell Richard Price NA board in the pic below is the favorite board I’ve ever had.  I still pull it out and ride it from time to time.  I’ve made a number of copies of this board over the years.  It’s got quite a bit of V.  It’s V from end to end and more than 1/4" of V at the front fins.  Boards like this were common in the 4 or 5 years prior to the Momentum Generation driving boards down to potato chip levels.  These boards flat out work.

I’d be willing to bet that every board in this photo featured a lot of V.

I wouldnt grind the vee out and re glass. Probably be an ugly mess and make a resale difficult.  I’d sell it and use the money to buy more materials and build another. One man’s dog is another man’s magic board.

No leash plug on the remake, Mako?  Cool.

Shapa, why are you trolling finsout? The guys been a positive contributer around here. Shares his stuff. Humble guy that ask good questions. WTF? Mike

The remake wasn’t finished in that pic.  That was back in my Epoxy over Poly days 6 or 7 years ago.  As an experiment I made two copies that winter one exact and one with a modern tripple concave bottom.  I prefer the one with V over the one with tripple concave especially in overhead surf.

not one board, but 6… and my first round pins were 20" wide and built.before you were born! I shaped them in 82’ - both of my boards worked perfect as well.infact, they worked well enough my friends brother surfed them to the ground…but i didn’t put tons of vee in, also, my board was 2.5" thick and didn’t slide out…I build two thrusters- one in 83’ a winged swallow w turbo fins I got free at a fin co bcuz the guy was cool…also, I just went surfing last mos out at the point - I borrowed my friends board and wetsuit.anyway, I don’t care to surf every day bcuz I been there done that. I only surf when I feel like it.

About me saying you were a cub I was JK -scroll back…jk= just kidding, but some can’t take jokes. Ok, whatever.

As for vee I don’t bother doing vee tip to tip. I prefer it more towards the tail bcuz that’s where I stand when turning usually…if you can’t take a joke maybe you should grow up. Surfing every day doesn’t prove anything. I also inquired weather you just started shaping bcuz you had a issue w vee is all… all you had to say is no. But you took it all wrong and freaked. I geuss your ego got hurt. Grow up a little, you don’t have to build 100’s of boards, or surf every day to prove anything. And if you think I don’t, or can’t surf or shape-come on over and meet me! I’d be glad to surf with anyone any day it’s any good. But I can’t surf anything over 2’ bcuz I lived inland for five yrs -just came back to the coast and need to work my way into it again. Infact, I had found it was difficult enough riding my friends long board, bcuz prior to myself moving inland I owned a six one tri fin. Recently got back into shaping bcuz it’s fun! And no I don’t plan to surf every single day.Relax.
